Conversations with Live Deliberate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Live Deliberate.

Hi Live Deliberate. We’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We are Live Deliberate, comprised of Ian Chesnut and Devon Sherwood. What started as two friends getting together to play music in High School has become a lifelong, shared dream of playing music to the masses. After we met, we bonded over our love of listening to and playing fun, fast, catchy pop-punk music. After going through multiple line-ups and bands’ names, we landed where we are today under the Live Deliberate moniker. After years of playing as many shows as we could and recording albums in our closets, we upgraded to recording in a professional studio. We recorded most of our currently released music before the pandemic, which postponed our dreams for a while. Now we are going full speed ahead, releasing five singles and two music videos in the past eight months, and we don’t plan on slowing down.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest obstacle has been that we’re still just a duo. Since our last band split, we have had to hire drummers and guitarists whenever we want to play a show. Luckily, we live together and have a shared band space in our home to flex our creative muscles. Another big obstacle was one everyone is familiar with; the pandemic. We recorded almost all of our currently released music before everything happened, so we had to push off the releases for almost two years. However, that time also allowed us to write and record more music.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We have always been known as the “band” guys. Our passion for playing music has taken over our being. Our family and friends have always supported us through thick and thin. We pride ourselves on our live performance. We believe that playing on stage is more than just making a sound. We perform our hearts out every show trying to make people smile, laugh, and dance. Since day one, our friends and family have told us how much energy we can bring to even the smallest bar.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Ian: My favorite childhood memory is watching my dad play drums after returning from a long military tour. I always thought he was this serious military guy, but seeing him play the drums so well blew my mind. I thought, “how can such a stick in the mud be this cool?!”

Devon: I remember my dad taking me to school in the morning in elementary school. There would be an 80’s rock song on the radio, and he would start singing the lyrics before the singer would sing them. So I didn’t know what he was talking about, then I hear the singer begin. I thought that was so cool.
