Conversations with Kerry Valentine Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kerry Valentine Smith

Hi Kerry Valentine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Yes, my daughter, Penelope, went missing the same year my mother passed… around 8-9 years ago now… she’s turning 17 this Dec. this year wherever she maybe?

I had the Maricopa County Sherriff’s Office Missing persons searching for her for quite some years now…

That’s how a dream once thought to be a just a dream, resurfaced & manifested…

The initial experience of this happening, I was at a loss, I don’t think I was even honest with myself I needed something to focus on, to drive me, to find her….

But also to get out of me everything I was holding in

So it began, an attempt in someway

If she’s alive and well

Then maybe she’d hear me, my song, her songs

Songs I wrote her we use to sing and play together

She was 4-6 those years playing music, teaching her self defense, urban & wilderness survival, she had so many interests on top of all I wanted to teach her

But that’s how it started

A good friend, Chris Knocke, offered his help to record my music

And still moving forward with hopes one day, someday…

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh wow, certainly that was, but if your specifying the question to more business related aspects

The lack of knowledge, experience & connections for the marketing end of releasing music

I was totally in the dark and $20 plus k of trial & error have not only brought me to a point of more sound conclusion & game plan

But definitely what NOT to do
lol 😀

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an artist, singer/songwriter & musician

I also have become quite the producer of both audio and video music production

I am known for my leadership qualities, skills, and delegation traits in the field at work or at the studio or in office

Musically speaking my original if not I’d like to think innovative approach and final rendition of scales, arpeggios & chords, on to phrasing, modal changes & diversity, even somewhat the physical skills needed to succeed with dynamics out of the norm per say to the everyday guitar player

Vocally I’m definitely diverse but still fall within and behind those before me
Mike Patton, Geoff Tate, Phil Anselmo, etc.

Production wise, Video making, I wish sometimes I could hook a computer up to my brain & the audio & video in my head could just go straight to screen, lol, 😀

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Positivity
