Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Hanson.
Hi Kate, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My background is in graphic design—I graduated with a bachelor’s in visual arts.
After graduating, I spent about three years working at a commercial printer. That gave me a really solid foundation in production, design execution, and understanding how things translate from digital to physical materials.
From there, I joined Fox Restaurant Concepts, where I’ve been for almost seven years now. My background in graphic design gives me a strong foundation for working as a Senior Marketing Project Manager, especially when collaborating with designers and fabricators. I understand both the creative intent and the technical side—things like file setup, color matching, material limitations, and production processes. It helps me communicate clearly across teams, anticipate potential issues, and make sure what’s being produced aligns with the original vision while also being practical to execute.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road—when you’re pushing the boundaries of creative design, there isn’t always a clear playbook. You’re rarely doing the same thing twice, so each project comes with its own learning curve, whether that’s figuring out new materials, navigating timelines, or balancing creative vision with real-world constraints. For me, it’s really about building the mindset to adapt, problem-solve in real time, and keep moving forward, even when things don’t go exactly as planned.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I oversee creative branding and project management for Fox Restaurant Concepts. Everything from murals and signage to marketing materials and environmental design. I specialize in bringing a brand’s personality to life in a way that feels cohesive across physical spaces and customer touchpoints.
I’m known for helping make big, creative ideas actually happen. Translating design concepts into real-world installations, managing the details with designers, fabricators, and vendors while keeping the creative intent intact.
Certain projects I’m most proud of include the hand-painted mirror installation at The Henry Uptown Plaza, the Rooftop at The 12/30 Club in Nashville, and the Converse wall at Culinary Dropout Denver. Each of those projects had its own set of challenges, but seeing them come to life really stands out for me.
I’m most proud of helping create spaces and moments that feel intentional and memorable, where every design detail feels considered, but it all comes together in a way that feels effortless to the guest. My work not only brings the brand to life visually, but also creates storytelling opportunities for our store-level teams, giving them a unique way to engage with guests and elevate the overall experience through the narrative. It’s something that truly sets our teams work, and FRC, apart. That layered approach—where the visual elements support both brand identity and steps of service—is something I’m especially proud of. It’s that balance between big-idea creativity and operational follow-through that defines the culture at FRC.
It’s not a one-size-fits-all model—we’re intentional with creativity and innovation, whether that’s through seasonal pop-ups, custom artwork made in-house, or developing new spaces that feel fresh, but still approachable.
What makes you happy?
What really makes me happy about my job is that every day looks different. One day I might be reviewing mural proofs, the next I’m walking a construction site or working through a signage install. There’s always a new challenge, and seeing a vision come to life—taking something from an idea to a fully finished space—is always rewarding. Sometimes I even surprise myself, figuring something out or getting it done faster than I expected. That mix of creativity, problem-solving, and momentum is what keeps me motivated.
Additionally, I feel really lucky to work with such an incredible team. There’s a real sense of trust and respect, and we’re able to move fast and problem-solve because of that. It’s not just about getting the job done; it’s about having a team that pushes each other creatively while still being supportive and easy to work with.
