Conversations with Justin Incarnati

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Incarnati.

Hi Justin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started West & Grain in 2019 as a hobby making cutting & charcuterie boards for my close friends and relatives, my wife always had me doing DIY projects around our home as well. My hobby quickly grew in 2020 turning into a small business that now creates custom furniture pieces and unique serving boards for clients in commercial and residential spaces.

We have grown so much in little time thanks to all the love and support we get from local businesses and clients. I really believe that if you build quality products you’ll always be busy and that’s what we do every time we design and create a unique piece for our clients.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business is no simple task, especially when it’s just one person running the show. I am a self-taught maker so everything I’ve built until now has been me doing so many hours of research from other makers learning ways to make certain things.

In woodworking, the plus side is that there are a thousand ways to do one task just have to find out which way best fits your style of building. I’ve also had so much support from my wife and my son, my wife will spend hours in the shop with me if she needs to and is always there to lift me up in my most stressful moments.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Here at West & Grain, we started out by making beautiful cutting boards and charcuterie boards. Slowly transitioned into furniture and now we are known for our gorgeous dining tables, Accent walls, floating shelves, Entertainment centers, wood beams, coffee tables, and our Epoxy Resin Tables & Charcuterie boards. I’d say we are known for the epoxy work we do with the different wood types and colors we mix to create a one-of-a-kind unique custom piece.

What sets us apart from others is that we don’t use any templates to cut out our charcuterie boards everything is hand drawn on a raw piece of wood and then cut out to ensure each client is getting a one-of-a-kind piece. We do take requests to replicate a design if a customer wants the same one. All of our furniture is handmade with locally supplied hardwoods. Only the best quality of wood goes into our builds.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The one thing that stands out to West & Grain is the continued love and support from our city, everyone is all about supporting small and buying local which is huge for a small business like West & Grain.
