Today we’d like to introduce you to Jules
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been singing since I was a young child, but songwriting since I was ten. Granted, my songs back then weren’t that good, but they got me to where I am today! I started recording music at 14 years old and was asked to audition for The Voice when I was 15, so I did. I turned two chairs and was on Team Kelly, but got booted after the second round. It was a blessing in disguise, cause COVID had hit right then. It was ultimately a super eye opening experience and is an opportunity I wouldn’t trade today for anything.
I continued to build my Phoenix community since then, kept writing music and started recording music with my producers Dran Lewis and Michael Kight out in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I record all my music out there with them to this day, they’re like family. I recently released my EP Heart Bewteen Homes in 2023 and have dropped a handful of singles since then with them. Since I began attending music school I’ve made some really amazing connections and have been playing shows on the Phoenix circuit now for a couple years, on top of my years performing around the valley since I was 12!
I just dropped my new single Orange Trees, and am so freaking pumped about it! Just a super fun song about growing up and the nostalgia of going down memory lane. It’s out on all platforms!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were definitely hard times along the way, but I’m so blessed to say I’ve had the greatest support system in my family and friends. Being an independent artist is an interesting lifestyle because it’s a mix of constantly having to do things on your own, as well as having to vouch and “prove” yourself on top of it all. I wouldn’t trade it for anything though, I’ve learned how to market and brand myself as well as run a company through it all, which have been super valuable trades for me!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a songwriter and recording artist. I specialize mainly in the songwriting and performing aspect of it all. I would have to say I’m most proud of my growth in my songwriting over the years, just from going through different life experiences as well as writing and collaborating with others. I believe the new music I’ve put out recently is my best work yet. My latest singles “After Hours” and “Orange Trees” really stand out to me as true growth in my writing and sound.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me most is that there’s a sense of honesty between me and the listener, as well as those I work with. All of my music collaborators; my band, my producers, etc. are all like family to me and there’s a sense of mutual love. It’s so important to me that my people see me as a valuable creative for them to trust in their artistry, but also as a friend. And as for the listeners, I just want them to feel seen and heard from what I write, and I can only do that if I myself am being 100% honest.
