Conversations with Jose Perez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jose Perez.

Hi Jose, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In January of 2021, my fiancee started her business, Alexa Paige Beauty, as a Hair and Makeup Artist while I was working a 9-5 corporate environment position. I began to notice how enjoyable it was to work for yourself and work on your time rather than being told what to do. From then on, we had always talked about working on weddings together, buying a venue, and creating an enterprise together, but I was always hesitant to get the ball rolling. Toward the end of 2022, we started talking about what I would be interested in. I realized I wanted to become a mobile bartender, so my fiancee, Alexa, gave me that extra confidence boost and a slight nudge to go for it. In November of 2022, I got my certificate from bartending school, and next thing you know, in February 2023, we got our LLC going. At STUR, we want to stand out with creative spins on classic cocktails, active service, and passion while collaborating on an event. Even though STUR is still in the start-up phase, working alongside my fiancee, Alexa, with Alexa Paige Beauty is just the start of our empire to start a new standard for weddings, private events, festivals, parties, and much more!

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since STUR Bartenders is still new, we have only hit a few obstacles. One of the most complex parts has just been starting and planning how to get it going. There are significant differences between creating a mobile bartending service versus Alexa’s Hair and Makeup business. We are both learning so much while researching what laws we must follow and all the regulations that Alexa didn’t need to go through. With me Jose, still working my 9-to-5 job, we work on STUR in our downtime. We are so excited to be up and running and working together, but through life’s challenges, we are slowly setting things up for the entire operation.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Alexa and I love to go to those fancy cocktail bars, where they have super creative drinks, and it’s always an experience. We love places like “Little Rituals” and “Bitter and Twisted,” where the drinks are always fun and different. We want to have that take on the industry but mobile. We want to create high-end/ luxury drinks for people’s special events while being fun and quirky smoked drinks or ones with foam and fun little things we can offer our customers that they don’t see anywhere else.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We see the mobile bartending business growing exponentially and are thankful to get the chance to start rolling out while mobile bartending is still growing. We expect new ways mobile bartending can expand and the services provided to cater to special events. We hope those drinks (from the previous question) will become more popular as those types of bars become the new popular places. People love experiences, and they will want them from mobile bars too.
