Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordiin Kahn-Hunter.
Hi Jordiin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was Born and raised in New Mexico primarily in a small town called Gallup. I have recently made the move to Arizona to make more business ventures. Like many new start-ups and new content creators, I started to push myself in a different direction. The beginning of it all started by being productive during the Covid-19 lockdown. I had multiple influences to help support me and who also showed me new ways of bettering myself mentally and physically. I started doing basic home workouts along with reading many self-improvement books to keep myself sane during the lockdown. Not only did I want to better myself, but I began to see many opportunities that I didn’t see before, this is where I started to document. I made a list of self-analyzations the biggest problem I saw was my unhealthy phone addiction. I realized I have become a slave to social media with endless scrolling and switching from app to app constantly. I decided it was time to change my habits and be more in touch with my own conscience and viewed brain as a supercomputer. This practice makes you take a hard look at your own skills and knowledge. I saw where I was lacking powerful skills, so I learned that for me to take the next step in this journey I had to start with deleting social media apps. With this technique I saw more time in my day, I really buckled down and started getting the same feeling I would get from being present on social media that I now have channeled it into going to the gym. I observed many of my peers and saw that most young adults were more worried about what’s the next trend on social media while I was worried about how I can become the best version of myself. As soon as the lockdown was lifted, I was able to finally go to an actual gym and do my workouts. I learned from reading ‘think and grow rich’ that my health was the biggest investment I could make for myself. From there I have been consistently working out 5 times a week for the past 2 years to today and being in the healthiest state of mind and best shape I have ever been since being a competitive athlete. I realized from here I wanted to share my fitness journey and mindset with others my age or just anyone who has the same interests. I wanted to be an advocate for wanting to create the greatest version of yourself as well as take care of your body because I see the body and mind are one. When one isn’t healthy how do you expect the other to be healthy as well? I decided to only have one social media app, I chose Instagram to be my platform in which I can share my journey and show others that it’s possible to do anything if you put your mind to it. On my Instagram feed, I show my workouts, show transparency of being in the gym on days you don’t feel like it, and share from podcasts or books I have read that talk about health mentally and inspiring individuals. I am determined to show anyone to test their limits and that you’re capable of so much more. If I am to leave someone with some advice that I use daily it, would be “What if you knew you couldn’t fail?”. This has tremendously helped me and kept me motivated to push myself onto new endeavors such as being a content creator. It also brought me a business mindset to which soon I hope to create an app where you can follow workouts I have done and show benefits from doing it and adding lessons for life/workout advice.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, but that is where the beauty of it is. You are gonna face many challenges just like myself and I can firmly say millions around the world have faced them. I have dealt with family trauma and lost a loved one which put me in a worse state of mind. I took a gap year from college and have never felt so lost in life. It made me rethink my whole plan that I would go to school and get a degree then work a job and do the whole family thing and get married then have the average life.
For months I felt in a rut and thought life was exciting no more and that I was destined for failure. This continuous cycle of a dark cloud over my head wouldn’t budge and constantly felt bad for myself. It was the battle of me V.S. Me, which no one told me it was the biggest turning point I would have in life.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a wellness advocate and content creator. I have created a YouTube channel to test the waters and realized I loved to create videos and saw I have these fun ideas that I thought would bring smiles to everyone. I then continued to push onto TikTok and Instagram. My biggest platform and where I feel most heard is my Instagram account, I have met various other creatives who make fitness and wellness content such as myself. These content creators made me feel a part of a bigger community and felt most mentored through their support. While surrounding myself with like-minded people I have grown as a content creator and made my accounts into a professional account for others and businesses to see how devoted I am to my work. Every day I wake up and see opportunity and new ideas to make my work be seen on social and see that I gain new followers with the same passion. I feel most proud of this because I get to do something I love and share it with others in hopes that they find motivation from it.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
My advice for anyone just starting in the gym or being a content creator is always to be authentic.
Staying true to your values and not getting lost in the sauce. I advise others to understand their why, understanding your why is what will help drive you to your main goal. It should be the burning desire you have that brings you purpose and contentment. I wish I knew this earlier when going to the gym and posting new ideas and I would’ve been a lot further and stronger in life today.
