Conversations with Jai Jai Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jai Jai Davis.

Hi Jai Jai, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I became a natural hair stylist in the early 90’s here in Phoenix as well as Las Vegas. In 2013 after a messy divorce of 25 years and a battle with cancer I decided to attend cosmetology school. In my early 40’s. I graduated top of my class and went directly from school into a salon where I gained even more knowledge about hair and the beauty industry. I worked that salon for five years and then went on to open my own salon, Napps by Jai. I also went back to school to earn my educator certification. I taught cosmetology for 2 years while owning and running my salon. After a two year stint I went back to the salon full time. While offering my own loc certification courses. Certifying Loctician’s in Arizona and Nevada. I currently hold Cosmetology/Educator licenses in Arizona, California, and Pennsylvania.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been an emotional roller coaster but I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything . It’s mine and it made me the business woman that I am today. It is my blood, sweat, and tears that created this beautiful life . Filled with a passion and joy that I have for this industry.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Master Loctician whose clients span the United States and at least 3 other countries. I pride myself in educating cosmetology, specifically Locs and Textured Hair. I’m known for growing long healthy hair. Also for connecting people, a concierge of Phoenix if you will.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Dedication,diligence, and discipline to myself and my business. Commitment to always seek out knowledge in my field and pass it on to others.
