Today we’d like to introduce you to Ezekiel.
Hi Ezekiel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
When I turned 8 or 9 my parents took me to my first concert in Baltimore, Maryland. I saw Anybody Killa and Amb. I was mesmerized by the idea of getting on stage and when I get back home I start reenacting what I saw on a picnic table we had at our house. Eventually that grew into me writing my own songs and performing them for my family.
I didn’t start recording until 2018 when I got my first home recording studio for Christmas. Since then I’ve released 5 mixtapes. Three in that same year, 1 in 2021, and 1 in 2022. In preparing to release my sixth mixtape Lost In Space. The release date for that is still unannounced.
I started doing shows after the pandemic ended in my hometown and the surrounding area, I moved back out of Arizona in 2022 and am now doing shows in Las Vegas and Flagstaff. I’ve opened for artists such as Twiztid, Mickey Avalon, Dizzy Wright, Onyx, and Ra The Rugged Man.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every journey has its own struggles for each individual person. There has been plenty of times when I have wanted to give up and just do it as a hobby. A lot of that came from the lack of listeners or social media interactions.
I’m still trying to teach myself to not let the social media side of it bother me. I’ve had a lot of people not believe in me since the beginning but the overwhelming support from my family has really silenced that and keeps me motivated.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make hip-hop music. Ever since a young age the genre captured my attention and has taken over my entire life. I study history and strive to be part of it one day. I’ve released 5 mixtapes and altogether around 100 songs including singles. I’ve done over 10 shows from large venues with major artists in the game to headlining little clubs doing my own gigs.
I was a part of the 2019 Las Vegas Grind Mode Cypher on Fremont Street and have put off 2 of my own music videos. I’ve done a lot of things so far in my career and by far the proudest I’ve ever been is when I got booked to play the Gathering Of The Juggalos in 2021. When I was about 11 years old I told myself I would perform there and it’s still really hard to believe I did.
What does success mean to you?
Freedom in character and self-expression. Allowing yourself to be yourself to the fullest and chase every dream you have. Whether it’s trying to become a celebrity or just working the normal 9-5. As long as you’re happy that’s is success to me.
