Today we’d like to introduce you to Desaree Suttle.
Hi Desaree, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Eight years ago, my life took a deviation from the very thorough and throughout plan I had made for myself. Ever since I could remember, I wanted to be a doctor. I strived in school, extra curricular’s and in my community for years working on getting to my future goal. What I didn’t know was that there happened to be a different plan for me in this universe. At 20, I travel halfway around the world to spend time in foreign country to help those in need giving medical training, basic knowledge and supplies In Malawi, Africa. Little did I know I would be the one who would get sick. Upon my departure, I was in rough shape it took 12 different doctors and specialists to conclude they weren’t “sure” what was wrong with me. I had to take time off from school and by the time I went to return, I was in a different place in life. I struggled to find my purpose without being able to be a doctor. When you fully expect your life to be over, you find that it is just beginning. Not too long after deciding not to go back at all did I meet my now husband. This cataclysmic event changes my whole life forever. What I mean is that I ended up being able to find other things I was passionate and good at in life. It took me to get to a point where I was open to a new career that might not be as prestigious and regal. It isn’t the same as saving children with cancer or engineering sustainable, eco-friendly power.
Selling real estate, Designing dream homes, Renovating pieces of history & making other’s imaginations come to fruition is the most rewarding experience. Architecture, construction and house have always been a love of mine. Growing up, my father worked in construction and I LOVED getting my hand dirty and helping out. My Beginning of real estate was fast! My father in law a man of many talents used the better part of the last 28 years helping hundreds of thousands of people change their lives. Part of that is providing housing and jobs. For the ‘Get Go’ I had an advantage with built-in clients. The first day my license was valid, I wrote an offer got it accepted and closed in seven days. Talk about a learning curve! My whole life, I was training to be ready for anything and this was my time to shine. For the last almost six years, I have helped families buy and sell their homes. This wasn’t the only thing I had in mind for a career. I would help my father-in-law would buy a crappy houses and when I walked inside, I could imagine the walls, removed, layout, fixtures, colors, and everything in-between! I knew that design had to be a part of my next venture and now I am the proud owner of Suttle Design & Consulting or (The Suttle Design for short). I have designed new build floor plans, Remodeled fixer uppers, sourced all the materials, project managed, and done the dirty work and go in on the demo and construction along the way. I also help bring my client’s imagination come to life with beauty and functionality. Having two full-time careers, full-time mom and wife with two dogs gives me great joy when I get to help anyone make their dreams come true.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say smooth is not a description I would use. It was bumpy and hard to have two careers that I could work all day for months and not make any money. Its long hours, sacrifices of social and family time. We never truly get a vacation even on our honeymoon, I worked. This is a career that is not for the weary, it doesn’t have a set schedule and your clients come first. The lack of nutrition because you are on the go all the time, you can lose your mental peace quickly. I have learned in the last six years that I do need balance in my life. My job is not life-threatening level of pressure. Starting out, I jumped at the moment of any work. Now I have urgency for the things that need to be rectified and saved and I am allowing grace to myself for my health of making time for me. I work out 5-6 days a week, five years ago I could barely find time to eat once a day much less spend and hour to go to the gym. I also have built myself in a community of people and friends for business. I have always been hard on myself to do better even though I was doing great already.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have more than one job or career. For starters, I selling real estate, Designing dream homes, Renovate homes& making other’s imagination come to fruition. Architecture, construction and houses have always been a love of mine! For the last almost six years, I have helped families buy and sell their homes. But I specialize in investment and renovations of properties. Selling Real Estate wasn’t the only thing I had in mind for a career. At first, it was helping my father-in-law buy a crappy houses and immediately I knew I wanted to be on the design side. I would walk inside and my brain could see the walls, removed, layout, fixtures, colors, and everything in-between! I knew that design had to be a part of my next venture and Now I am the proud owner of Suttle Design & Consulting or (The Suttle Design for short) I am proud of the rewarding career In real estate but I find the most rewarding experience is when I have designed & remodeled fixer uppers, sourced all the materials, project managed, and done the dirty work. I find my imagination comes to life when I get to help clients marry beauty and functionality. I think I am most known for my realistic and honest approach to projects.
There is a lot of moving parts, it is overwhelming to just about everyone. You know you are in the right line of work when you revel in the chaos and madness. The last two years, I have been working endlessly to sign and manufacture my own furniture and home decor line! I am ecstatic to have that come to life and will see it coming in the next year or so! Having two full-time careers, full-time mom and wife with two dogs, give me great joy when I get to help anyone make their dreams come true. I would say that my approach, personality, style, and work ethic sets me apart but I believe what sets me apart is my heart and willingness to do whatever it takes. My client doesn’t have the funds to hire a contractor that’s okay! I have built closet organizers, accent walls, installed kitchen cabinets, painted, landscaped, demo, built furniture, Uppolster furniture, searched for the perfect piece of furniture on the smallest budget. I will do whatever I can to make my client’s wild dreams come true!
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
People can work with me in a variety of ways. One is New products or services that may be offered to my clients. We are always looking to provide the White Glove or Ritz Carlton experience. Go above and beyond to make their experience the best it can be. I am always looking for local and community involvement for products and decor, sponsorships for projects such as flips or promotional products that we can work together to bring light to each other’s businesses. Support comes in many forms, a like and shares on Instagram is great but a referral for a client who is in need of my services is the best type of support.
