Today, we’d like to introduce you to Dean Nelson.
Hi Dean, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us. To start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Well, my music journey started when I accidentally swallowed a kazoo at a young age, and it got stuck in my throat. The only way I could communicate was by creating melodious tones with the kazoo, much to the amusement of my family and friends.
Eventually, I embraced my unintentional musical talent and started experimenting with a different instrument, the guitar. I dabbled in composing songs and have released a plethora of singles and a couple of EPs! I’m working towards three full albums, which have made it to the halfway point. I think that means I have one and a half albums done. Trying to get each of these to the finish line has been a process but a fun one!
Things really took off when I formed a band with a group of talented musicians from Tempe. They just happened to play the drums, guitar, bass, and keyboard. We called ourselves “Dean “Nelson” because that’s my name, and all of our creativity goes towards songwriting. Our wild performances at local watering holes gained us a cult following.
Now, I’m living the dream with my bandmates and spreading joy through our quirky and unconventional live shows. Who would have thought that a kazoo mishap would lead me to this musical masterpiece of a life? But hey, stranger things have happened in the music industry!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Let me tell you, it has been anything but a smooth road! We’ve faced hurdles like giant potholes that swallowed our car whole, speeding tickets from a race with a rival clown car, and even a run-in with a rogue pack of angry circus monkeys who stole our equipment.
But we’ve pushed through it all with humor and determination, turning each setback into a hilarious story to tell at the next gig we roll into. And you know what? We wouldn’t have it any other way. Who wants a boring, straightforward story when you can have a wild, wacky adventure like ours?
Thanks. What else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In a world where music reigned supreme, I feel I was reincarnated from a legendary rockstar known as “Bill.” He had a reputation for writing kick-ass songs that could make even the toughest critic tap their feet and nod their head in approval. My lyrics were like poetry on steroids, packed with emotion, wit, and a healthy dose of sass.
We strive to have melodies that are infectious, hooking listeners in from the first note and refusing to let go. We turn simple riffs into a full-blown head-banging anthem, and I have trained my voice to have the power to make grown men cry, and teenage boys scream with adoration. But our stage presence truly sets our band apart from the rest. When we step out onto the stage, the band oozes charisma and confidence, and we strut and thrash about like wild animals unleashed. The crowd goes wild, losing themselves in the music and the sheer energy that we exuded.
And while other musicians may have been content to stick to the tried-and-true formula of rock and roll, we are always pushing the boundaries, experimenting with new sounds and styles. We are not afraid to incorporate unexpected elements into our music, from psychedelic sampled sections to blistering guitar solos that would make even the most seasoned shredder say, “Hmmm, maybe not.”
We are a force to be reckoned with, a true rockstar in every sense of the word. And when we stand on stage, soaking in the adoration of our fans, we know that we have achieved something truly special – a legacy of kick-ass songs and unforgettable performances that will live on long after we have left the stage.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In 5-10 years, all music will be delivered directly to our brains through implanted chips, and concerts will be held in virtual reality with hologram performers.
Record labels will be replaced by algorithms that create personalized playlists based on our mood and age, and every hit song will feature at least one verse rapped by a talking cat. Get ready for a wild ride in the musical future!
