Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Szydlowski.
Hi Chris, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Spooky’s Swirls started as a food truck, but we quickly outgrew the small mobile kitchen. I had been collecting screen-used movie props and wardrobes from the Horror genre as a hobby for over 20 years and always dreamed of being able to share my collection with the public.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Opening a brick-and-mortar location was an absolute dream come true! The early struggles we encountered were running out of product due to the overwhelming demand we didn’t anticipate right out of the gate. We quickly grew our kitchen and staff to fulfill the needs of our customers. Down the road, we struggled with the Pandemic but were able to open for curbside pickups.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a small business owner and Chef, I am lucky to be able to have the creative freedom to produce whatever I want. As an artist, this has opened my creative journey to new levels I had never been able to experience working for others. This unique vision has been embraced by our customers and sets us apart from others.
Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
We are currently looking for local artists to collaborate with who offer themed items that align with our aesthetic. Coming to our store and being delighted by our craft would be the best support we could ask for.
