Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Gelmanovich.
Hi, Cassandra. We are so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2018, I started my business Sensitive Soul Fine Arts to showcase my artwork and photography. At first, I primarily focused on displaying my art in galleries, art shows, and farmers markets. Yet I realized I wanted to do something more with my art. I wanted to find a way to help people and incorporate art at the same time. This tug in my heart led me to expand into Energy Portraits. I define an Energy Portrait as a painting that encapsulates a person’s emotions, experiences, and energy through an intuitive connection. For my process, I channel my client’s energy and then finger-paint the beautiful imagery revealed in my mind’s eye. Afterward, we explore and discuss the meaning behind the symbols and colors that come through. What I love about this offering is that each painting is unique to the individual. Even if similar symbols appear, they mean something different each time. My clients describe the experience as therapeutic. Everything from the process of painting to the connection with others helped me realized this was my calling. Once I started offering Energy Portraits at wellness and holistic fairs, my business evolved and began to bloom.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a solopreneur, I have to wear many hats in my business. There are weeks when I won’t be creating art or have any sessions lined up. I have to book shows, manage finances and county licenses, market myself, build client relationships, and more. Energy Portraits are something only some people have heard of. They think of aura photos or soul portraits, so I also face the challenge of conveying what I do and asking people to try something new.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Energy Portraits are the focus of my business, yet I have other creative offerings as well. I developed Grieving Forward With Art one-on-one sessions and group sessions to help people incorporate art in their grieving journey. My role here is to guide my clients in making a specific painting that I created (which incorporates an artificial flower), but personalize it to their liking. It helps give the healing process direction and my clients an idea of the end result. Additionally I host Cards That Care, where I invite creative individuals within my community to come together and make cards to donate to various organizations. Lastly and coming soon, I’ll be offering my fruit carvings on a seasonal basis. Overall, I am thrilled to offer my various creative services and would love to get in touch with anyone interested in any of my offerings
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
Regarding luck, timing and meeting the right people is everything. It’s hard for me to put myself out there as an artist and be open to criticism. However, conversations with the right people at the right time took my confidence and art to the next level. Energy Portraits were inspired by customers who felt deeply connected to my work and brave enough to share their emotions with me. Hanging my art in my first gallery resulted from an informal conversation with the curator. I’ve been conditioned to feel like you must have prior connections to succeed. But, in my experience, it took some good luck to meet the right people at the right time to form new connections that can have a huge impact.
