Today we’d like to introduce you to Carol DiQuilio.
Hi Carol, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been involved with photography, from my working days in commercial photolabs to the digital age as a graphic artist. When I retired, my life-long hobby of photographing birds and mammals finally turned into something more than just a past time. In 2016 I started my business Carol DiQuilio’s Nature Photography. I put out my first Wildlife calendar that year and started marketing my prints and notecards to local stores. Things went so well, I also published a book “Growing up as Gray Fox Cubs” which was the story of the Gray Fox couple that would raise their young in my yard every year.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The hardest part is finding the right store that my Wildlife images would be a good fit for. A few stores I have been blessed with, they were my first customers and continue to order. Their orders have gotten bigger and bigger over the years! It helps my inventory has grown tremendously also.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I mainly specialize in making photographic Wildlife notecards and prints on aluminum. I try and capture the personality of the bird or mammal, and make people smile when they see one of my photos. There are so many funny antics of the wildlife I photograph. If I have the patience to sit long enough with my camera to see and document that special moment.
What sets me apart would have to be the quality of my work. I print most everything on my professional quality printers at my house. It may be a lot of work, but my turnaround time is super fast and the quality shows. Many people frame my notecards to put in their homes.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The beauty of wild creatures in nature! We need to make sure they have enough space to roam and live free.
