Conversations with Bryant Powell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryant Powell.

Hi Bryant, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was never good at school, but in music classes I always excelled. I found that I was very inclined to the arts and with the help of my mom pushed myself further into singing. In my later teens I found myself struggling with the fact that I had to hire other guitarists in my local area, but seeing this not as a block and more of an opportunity, I taught myself guitar. After high school I got really into band life, particularly in indie music. A dear friend of mine, Nino Lucarelli, later introduced me to toplining and the incredible world of EDM. I was fascinated by the culture and the production, not only in the music itself but in the elaborate shows as well. This led to many chances to hone my skills as a singer-songwriter and a performer. That led me down the rabbit hole of performing with tracks, lights and sounds. Now I not only sing songs for DJ/Producers from all around the world, but I also perform live and on YouTube my own kind of dance music. I have started a series on YouTube named “Topografia Sagrada”. It blends the majestic wonder of our beautiful corner of the United States with the magic and power of dance music.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I had to learn a lot along the way. Beside of the fact that I needed to learn vocal production and guitar, as well as to record myself, I had to learn how to market my music and distribute it to the relevant platforms. So it’s not a smooth road, but nothing that’s really worthwile is smooth.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a topliner and singer-songwriter. I sing and write songs for producers and DJs so they can play music festivals and clubs. Last year, I had a really big hit in that Hardstyle charts with Sub Zero Project’s “Refuse to Speak”. It went on to get 4 Million streams on Spotify alone and got voted to number 2 of the “I Am Hardstyle” Top 100 tracks of 2024 by fans and other musicians.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel that integrity and the willingness to learn is a pinnacle to anyone’s success.
