Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Bridge.
Hi Bri, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Bri Bridge is a passionate creative who dreams of making each day a visionary experience for her audiences. A third generation artist, Bri has found joy in working with many different mediums. With more than twenty years of work experience in fine arts, performance art, costume/fashion design, and event production, she has finally achieved her childhood dream of becoming a “career artist.” Bri currently works as Creative Director for Relentless Beats festivals, producing artistic and aesthetic elements for some of Arizona’s largest musical events. While the entertainment industry remains an exciting path, she longs to root deeper into the local arts community. As an Arizona native, her greatest artistic mission is to contribute substantially to the advancement of the arts within our city, and help to build opportunities and pathways for fellow artists to achieve success doing what they love.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, the path of a career artist is rarely smooth. Finding financial stability doing creative work takes a really long time – for me nearly 20 years. Most of my twenties I worked 3-5 jobs at a time just to make ends meet while pursuing my artistic endeavors. I think the key is just never quitting – most people give up before they achieve their goals because the lifestyle is too chaotic, too unstable. But if you stick with anything long enough, you fail enough times to toughen your skin and eventually achieve the goal.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am Bri Bridge, an eclectic cat lady and contemporary good witch who finds all of my magic in our beautiful Arizona desert environment. I love to paint tigers, plants and clouds. My goal as an artist is to provoke thoughts that encourage human connection – through expressionism and abstract styles, I incorporate symbols of deeper meaning that we can find in the simple beauties of life. If everyone were able to look beyond the complexities of life or our mundane daily routines and find happiness in our simple existence, the world would be a much better place. Perhaps the art that I create and the artists I support will promote these notions and raise the vibration of our universe.
More recently in my artistic journey, I have embarked on a study of color constancy. I am intrigued by the way that light hues affect paint pigments, and am diligently taking notes and practicing ways to incorporate these effects more intentionally into my paintings. I have a few pieces complete, and am working toward a complete collection. It’s still very early in my research, but I am hoping this will be the aesthetic that becomes my artistic legacy.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m not much of a technology or social media person, which has probably slowed my path to success to some degree. But I have found that networking and mentorship has been the most helpful resource in achieving my goals. There is always someone out there who has done what you are trying to do, and even if they didn’t win, it’s helpful to understand why. We can learn from one anothers successes AND failures.
