Today we’d like to introduce you to Brayanm Calvo.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
My story is of a dreamer; from a very young age, I suffered from a speech disorder characterized by repetitions and involuntary interruptions in the emission of words, which hindered my ability to relate to others. With time, I was confident in myself and discovered skills such as leadership; this made me face my deepest fears, and that was how I turned the fear of public speaking into an ally in my life. The desire for entrepreneurship was born 10 years ago when I discovered that my passion is to serve communities, and thanks to the skills I gained from developing network marketing, I learned to connect with people genuinely. I am a public accountant by profession, and during my 5 years of college, I developed the ability to dance and a love for culture; these two aspects would be the key to my start as an entrepreneur in the tourism industry. My city, Cartagena, needed a cultural offer that allowed travelers to connect realistically with history and culture. This is where BLACK LEGACY EXPERIENCES was born, a company of young locals whose purpose is to tell stories no one else wants to tell.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship is challenging, but it is something for the brave. The fact of having had the main detractors within my own home (mom, dad, siblings) made this path one of the most important challenges of my life; if it weren’t for that pressure, maybe nothing would have been what it is today!

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Today, I am proud to have a tourism company in Cartagena that specializes in creating cultural immersion experiences beyond the walls of Cartagena, where young people from popular neighborhoods unite us with a passion for our culture and for telling all those stories that make us a blessed land.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood moment was enjoying with my friends all the traditional games of the time in our neighborhood, Nueva Granada.
