Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Barahona
Hi Andrew, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m Andrew Barahona, the creative force behind Desert Ghost Creative, where I bring food, culture, and brands to life through photography, video, and social media marketing. I believe every dish tells a story, and my goal is to capture that essence through my work as a Creative Director.
With a background as an award-winning writer director, I approach content creation with a filmmaker’s eye, focusing on emotion, mood, and storytelling. I’ve always been drawn to the way visuals can evoke feelings, and through Desert Ghost Creative, I help restaurants and small businesses craft content that connects with their audience in an authentic and engaging way.
Beyond Desert Ghost Creative, I run Bored Film Studios my filmmaking company and host On The Reel: A Film Podcast, where I sit down with filmmakers to talk about the craft, the industry, and the stories behind the scenes. While filmmaking will always be a part of who I am, Desert Ghost Creative allows me to merge my love for storytelling with my passion for food and branding—creating content that’s visually striking, meaningful, and memorable.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Balancing client work, personal projects, and financial stability is a constant challenge. Some months are full of opportunities, while others feel uncertain. Wearing multiple hats as a creator, marketer, and business owner—can be overwhelming, and creative doubt creeps in at times.
With that said, every struggle has taught me resilience. I’ve learned to adapt, trust the process, and keep pushing forward. Despite the challenges, the reward of creating meaningful work and telling stories makes it all worth it. Being an independent creative has been one of the toughest and most fulfilling journeys I’ve taken.
Every project teaches me something new, and despite the struggles, I know each challenge only pushes me to grow and refine my craft.
I’m incredibly grateful for my clients and the opportunities that allow me to continue doing what I love.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I run Desert Ghost Creative, where I specialize in food photography, video production, and social media marketing. My work is all about capturing the soul of food and brand storytelling—turning dishes, spaces, and experiences into visually compelling content that resonates with audiences.
What sets me apart is my cinematic approach I bring my background as a filmmaker into everything I create. Focusing on mood, emotion, and storytelling rather than just aesthetics. I want viewers to feel the experience, not just see it.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built with clients and the trust they place in me to bring their vision to life. Seeing my work help businesses grow and connect with their audience is what keeps me going. At the end of the day, I love what I do, telling stories that leave a lasting impression.
What matters most to you? Why?
The relationships I build. I cannot express how grateful I am for all of the people I have in my life. My clients are special to me and I am proud of the working relationships I have.
Although the struggle has been real, the connections I have made and the work I have been able to create because they trust me, makes this incredible journey worth it.
