Conversations with Andrea Stepien

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Stepien

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Have you ever wondered how people get to where they are in life?

When we moved from NY to AZ, Real Estate wasn’t even on the radar for me. In NY I had been the owner and operator of a Wellness Center, and practiced there as a Massage Therapist, Aesthetician, and Master Herbalist. My intention was continue in the same field in Arizona once we got settled.

Change was in the air, however, and I chose to be open to it. I decided to explore Real Estate classes, and before I knew it, I was licensed. My first year was a little rough (it’s a learning year, right?), but I fell in love anyways.❤️

This field is so different (the pace, deadlines, liabilities, constant negotiations for my clients, stress level), but to me, it’s fundamentally the same. Being a realtor allows me to be oh so intimate with the needs of my clients, and gives me the honor of being their chosen partner to make their lives better. Instead of fixing their bodies, I get the honor of fixing their dreams. It’s an honor I never take lightly.

I have always been a helper. A giver. Being a realtor affords me the opportunity to continue being who I truly am. Someone who thrives on being part of your ‘dream-team’. For me, it’s not about selling houses…it’s about the people who live in them.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not! So many people think of realtors as used car salesmen (no offense), or ambulance chasers. And they ALWAYS want to negotiate my fees. I get it, and I USED to allow it, but with experience comes knowledge, and with knowledge comes worth. I know I will win for my clients, with peace and grace. In addition, I’ve seen the market do some CRAZY things in the last 7 years. We went from ‘normalcy’ (a fairly balance market, to the Covid market, where rates sank to historic levels causing homes to sell in seconds flat with historically high prices and droves of competing offers, to the post-Covid market with all of its rapid changes and adjustments, to a market that’s beginning to balance out but with increasing home values and higher than desired interest rates. WHEW!! Staying on top of market trends and being able to articulate and navigate it all is paramount.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a REALTOR® who prides herself in staying on top of market trends and educates and empowers her clients to get the most out of their situation. I never want to see my clients overpaying for a home or leaving money on the table when selling their home. I specialize in helping people “right size”, which means upsizing or downsizing, and have a knack for making it all come together fluidly for my clients. My organizational skills, communication skills, and on-going systems are tried and true. I build deep, long-lasting relationships with my clients, and have attended more weddings, graduations, and baby showers for my clients than I can count.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve always been an entrepreneur, which always comes with a high level of risk. If my phone doesn’t ring, there is no paycheck. So I figure it out. I’ve always had to work hard, and my philosophy is that I am not afraid to try something new if the current plan isn’t working.
