Conversations with Ameer Sweiss

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ameer Sweiss.

Hi ameer, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Ameer Sweiss, Owner of Aspro Lighting & Eventski Rentals. I’ve been dedicated to the industry since 2013.
My passion for lighting was ignited during my college studies in film & photography, where I first realized the profound effect lighting has on shaping our daily experiences.

At Aspro Lighting & Eventski Rentals, we specialize in both permanent and rental installations, offering a wide range of services, from accent lighting and special effects to large-scale installations like festivals, weddings, drapery, and staging systems. I believe lighting is a powerful tool in setting mood, creating energy, and transforming any space, whether it’s for a private home or a large-scale event.

Working in the wedding and event industry brings me immense fulfillment. It’s a purpose-driven field, and the gratitude, kindness, and joy that characterize this industry make it incredibly rewarding. My team and I are committed to delivering personalized, unique experiences that bring our clients’ visions to life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has certainly had its challenges, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, which had a profound impact on the event industry. Practically overnight, events were canceled or postponed indefinitely, and much of the work we had scheduled disappeared. It was an incredibly uncertain time, not just professionally but personally as well.

That said, I’m deeply grateful for the lessons that came from that period. It forced me to think differently, to innovate, and to find new ways to stay creative and connected—even when live events weren’t possible. It also gave me the opportunity to refine my vision, strengthen relationships with clients and collaborators, and build a more resilient foundation for the future. While it wasn’t easy, those challenges ultimately pushed me to grow in ways I never would have anticipated.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in event lighting and design, with a focus on creating immersive, visually striking environments that elevate every aspect of the guest experience. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate gala, concert, or private celebration, I approach each project as a unique opportunity to tell a story through light, space, and atmosphere.

What I’m most known for is the ability to blend technical precision with artistic creativity. I don’t just light a space—I shape it, using light as a tool to evoke emotion, highlight key moments, and enhance the overall mood and energy of the event. I work closely with planners, producers, and clients to ensure that the lighting design complements the broader vision while also bringing its own dynamic presence.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with clients and collaborators over the years. Seeing people react emotionally to a space we’ve transformed—whether it’s awe, joy, or simply feeling transported—that’s what makes the work so rewarding.

What sets me apart is my attention to detail and my commitment to creating an experience—not just a design. I approach every project with the mindset that lighting should do more than just illuminate—it should move people, guide their focus, and enhance the emotional tone of the event. I take the time to truly understand the client’s vision and then translate that into a cohesive lighting design that feels intentional, immersive, and unforgettable. I’m also hands-on throughout the process, from concept to execution, which helps ensure that every element aligns seamlessly with the overall event vision.

How do you think about luck?
Luck has definitely played a role—both good and bad. I’ve had moments where the right opportunity or connection came at just the right time, and I’m very grateful for those. But I’ve also faced challenges, like the impact of COVID, that tested everything. In the end, I believe luck can open a door, but it’s hard work, adaptability, and consistency that keep things moving forward.
