Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Reed.
Amber, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Amber Reed’s artistic journey began as a child in Northern Michigan. She’s a mixed native who was raised with her Anishinaabe family. Affiliated with Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. Her anishinaabe + Irish heritage has shaped her creative spirit. Growing up her mother & other relatives made sure she spent a lot of her childhood outside, taught her how to live in harmony with the earth to the best of their ability in this modern age, a way of living that continues to influence her work & the way she walks today. After founding By Amber Reed in 2014, she continued to expand her design and hand-forging skills found in her jewelry, hair adornments, and home décor, using natural stones, porcupine quils, shells, and partially reclaimed precious metals. Amber’s intuitive design process blends tradition, relational care, and personal expression, emphasizing the sacred relationship between the earth & each other.
Now based in Phoenix *O’odham Land, Amber continues to draw inspiration from her heritage creating pieces that honor both the materials, creator that crafts them & those who will be wearing them. Her work is known for its intentionality, and she especially values collaboration with other artists and clients, designing bespoke pieces that hold deep personal meaning and are intended to be cherished for generations.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Business struggles & life happens along the way but something that always got me through was creating with my hands. It is a blessing to have your craft being what supports you not only financially but soothes your spirit & calms your mind. For many of us it’s medicine, storytelling & it’s a blessing to share it
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m known for my sun catchers, hair pins, rings & custom work. I’ve been blessed with many wedding ring customs these past 4 years. It’s truly an honor to be part of something so special. I’m also known for repairing family heirlooms. I don’t say yes to all repairs but if I feel confident to do a good job, i will. I would love jewelry to last for many more years to come.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built over the years. I take my work seriously & I am forever grateful for those who collect my work + trust me enough to create something special for them. Also, the art/business community in Phoenix I wouldn’t be where I am without this city really nurturing all of us artists/small businesses. You really know how to make this nish feel special. Chii Miigwech – Big Thank you for the support
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I encourage people to follow their own intuitive style and try not to get caught up in trends. Investing in jewelry is a way to let your spirit shine, express who you are and where you come from + it is a more sustainable choice for the planet.
Pieces you can pass down to loved ones.
What comes from the planet goes back to it eventually so how we care/respect it matters.
