Conversations with Alane Lizarraga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alane Lizarraga.

Alane Lizarraga

Hi Alane, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Ever since I was a kid, I have loved the idea of capturing real life moments through video. I got my first Nikon Coolpix camera in 2008 for Christmas, and my friends and I would make music videos in the park to our favorite songs (this was before Instagram so that footage is long gone). Fast forward to 2015, I splurged and bought myself the Cannon g7x to take with me on my first big trip to Norway. I captured amazing footage, uploaded it to iMovie, and made a highlight video that still makes me smile whenever I watch it. I then, started creating more travel videos that I would upload to Youtube for my own personal enjoyment. An old friend later reached out to me and asked me to film her wedding and I jumped on that opportunity. The process of filming and editing was truly so much fun for me and I was overjoyed to know that she absolutely loved the video. Capturing real, candid moments for people to look back on is truly something so special to me. That helped me realize how much I actually loved videography and how Alane Films started!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So far, there hasn’t been any struggles with Alane Films. I am definitely learning a lot, and I am enjoying the process.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My parents built a home remodeling business from scratch so I definitely grew up in a house of entrepreneurs. With that being said, I never saw myself in a job where I am sat behind a desk. Along with videography, I always loved being active and exercising. In 2021, I created a women’s personal training program called Vitality Training that emphasizes community, strength, and women empowerment. I like to be hands on with my work and turn my actual hobbies into businesses!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
There is a risk in starting any business. It is extremely vulnerable since you are essentially turning an idea into a tangible business. There is no guarantee that your ideas will become successful. However, I personally believe that I would rather try something and fail, rather than always wonder if I would have succeeded. If you’re passionate about something, you’ll make it work.
