Today we’d like to introduce you to Airyes Itos.

Hi Airyes, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi, thank you for the opportunity to reconnect! Small shifts and tilts have changed dramatically since the last Voyage Phoenix Interview. It has been a year and a half since I delved into new levels of my photography ventures. January 2022, I started by charging lower rates to gain experience and collect a portfolio. After completing projects and building confidence, I priced my work to reflect the postproduction time and care I put into each booking. I have photographed fashion and beauty portraits, celebratory events, graduation shoots, business events, and headshots. I took on new opportunities that grew my inner trust. In addition, I grew my skills by continuing to shoot for loved ones and family; I directed a music video, shot artist content, and even shot sports car photos. I opened myself up to go for all I could to build and expand my abilities. I am grateful for the clients and the projects that got me to where I am.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? No. As new challenges came up, I adapted. I had to get bigger wheels to make it over these obstacles. Sometimes I just stopped and stared at the potholes ahead, thinking, ‘How am I going to make it through all this’? Yet, I did. I am glad I did.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? 
I have gotten to a place of significant inner knowing; I trust in myself to take what I have and make it more of what is aligned with me. I am most proud of that, proud of my accomplishments and proud of my failures. I learned a lot about myself. I was able to surprise myself, surprise myself with excitement.

What are your plans for the future?
I look forward to new connections and building my team. I am excited to create and share my art, knowing I am safe and free. I plan to surround myself with all I dream and work towards. I continue to write poems, take photos, sing, and perform. I plan for advocacy, peace, and fun!
