Conversations with Aieysha Haws

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aieysha Haws.

Hi Aieysha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was performing before I even understood the music business, and that’s where most of my learning started. A dream. A desire to create music that felt intentional, powerful, and authentic to who I am. To live life. I write from the heart, knowing my songs will resonate with those who need them most. Soft-hearted yet strong-willed, my will to rise is like a phoenix, rising again and again.

Something clicked when I first heard Patti LaBelle and Tina Turner as a little girl. Their boldness, fierceness, and unapologetic presence ignited a vision inside me. I wanted to make music that stops you in your tracks and opens your heart. Since, I dove into performing live, hustling, writing, and sharing my songs with the world.

When I released Turmoil, people started calling me the Queen of Hearts. That wasn’t just a nickname. It became a calling I knew I had to explore.

All the hard work, passion, and journey is all a part of me. That’s the magic of Aieysha Haws: dreaming big, singing, humming, always moving forward.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I remember spending some money that was gifted to me to audition for American Idol, thinking maybe that was my shot. I got rejected in Philly. I was excited and delusional. I even tried raising funds for a call-back audition for The Voice UK, but that didn’t work out either. Everything felt like losses.

When doors close or plans fall through, I remind myself: keep pushing, keep creating, stay true. You’ll face delays, disappointments, jealousy. I’ve had people play with my mic during a live sets, try to sabotage my sound, rush my mix/master, but you learn. New opportunities show up, so do new opps. [laughs] You’ll be challenged, frustrated, and sometimes even finessed.

So stay woke! [sings]

Nothing about this journey is a straight shot. Every “no” built the version of me that keeps going. I’m doing what I love, feeding my inner child, and dreaming even bigger. That’s what really matters.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a multi-faceted artist. Singer, songwriter, performer, and I do it all with passion and style. I blend genres like R&B, Hip-Hop Soul, and Fusion, using my voice to channel emotion and power in every note.

I’m known for my lyrics, my Floetry, and my signature powerhouse vocals. There’s a presence I bring that makes people say, “She’s so soulful.” What I’m most proud of is how I use that presence to inspire others to love, be themselves, and chase their dreams with confidence, no matter the odds.

Beyond music, I also do guest speaking. Sharing my story, my journey, and the lessons I’ve learned to uplift and empower others. Whether I’m on stage singing or speaking, my message is the same: lead with heart, and never be afraid to shine.

What sets me apart is the legacy I’m building. The original soul I bring to everything I do. I don’t just sing songs; I create moments. Every time I step on stage, I bring that magic. I stay grounded, and I dare to dream big.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, kids used to call me “Mother Earth.” I’ve always lived in my own world. Then I’d be considered a popular loner. Introspective, sensitive, creative, and thoughtful. I spent hours reading, writing, drawing, diving into the arts and fascinated by stories.

The park was my sanctuary where I felt most at peace. I’ve always loved nature and been caring, maybe even too much at times. My mom always checked on and poured into me. She helped me recharge, ground myself, and reflect. We’d walk through the park together, and there I’d find myself singing, blowing dandelions, and simply soaking in the world around me in silence.

One of my earliest memories of being seen was when I sang This Little Light of Mine at school. That moment brought a lot of attention some good, and some not so good. Other kids didn’t always understand me, and some even tried to dim my light. That song became a symbol for me to always shine.

It was my way of relaxing, contemplating the beauty in everything, and connecting with life in a simple yet meaningful way. My curiosity about life has always kept me questioning, always seeking.

Even the cartoons I grew up with like Hello Kitty, Sailor Moon, Pokémon carried deeper meanings. Their philosophies and characters helped me make sense of life’s complexities. They blended play with wisdom which is exactly how I see myself. That same energy is carried in my EP, Fantasia. Be you, standout, dream, and be free.
