Conversations with Adrianna Medrano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrianna Medrano. 

Hi Adrianna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My notary journey started at my previous job. I worked in HR and my position had the option to become a notary public. My boss encouraged me to become a notary since the company paid for it. I obtained my notary and notarized documents strictly at work and never knew other notaries made this into a business and even taking it a step further and becoming a loan signing agent with some agents making 6 figures a year. Once I left that job, I had stopped notarizing documents. I recently got to this stage in my life where I didn’t want to feel like my income was being limited. I currently work a full-time job and I was tired of being restricted to 1 income. I was having a talk with my boyfriend and he planted the seed in my head to take this service a step further and start notarizing on the side. I thought about it for a few days and told myself this is the perfect side job to start increasing my income and that’s how Medrano Notary started. I currently do general notaries and I’m mobile around the valley. My next step is to become a loan signing agent. I wanted to use my last name as the business name for a few reasons. I’m very proud to have the last name I have. My grandfather, Arthur Medrano, unfortunately recently passed away due to covid, and creating a business with our last name is a way to always remember him and to commemorate our last name. Another reason was to start a family business. I think starting a business that can become a family business to leave for our feature generations and for other family members to join in on is something that I’ve always wanted to do so to be able to do this, is huge for me. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Since I am still new to this field, so far it has been smooth, however, I think the most difficult part is getting appointments. Because there’s so many notaries already, you have to try your best to stand out especially when you’re just starting out and trying to get those appointments. I know nothing is a smooth journey but I believe in hard work and consistency to get to where you want in life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Aside from starting Medrano Notary, I also have another business named Adrianna Medrano Official. It is a clothing brand I started a few years ago. I design and sew clothing, accessories, and re-work clothes. It began during the holiday season in 2019. Every year my parents, siblings, their spouses, and I participate in secret Santa, that year my father was my secret Santa. I remember putting on my Christmas list “a sewing machine (offer up has cheap ones”. It’s funny to look back on because I didn’t care for a new sewing machine, I just wanted a sewing machine, no matter how it looked. Of course, my dad being the amazing dad he is, he didn’t want to get me any sewing machine. He actually did research and read reviews on what sewing machine to get me and he got me a brand-new Singer sewing machine. Now, I had no idea how to sew or even know the name of the parts on the sewing machine, I was completely new to sewing. Once I got my sewing machine, I went straight to YouTube to teach myself everything about sewing. For New Year’s Eve that year, I made my first piece of clothing ever, which was a reddish-maroon velvet tube top. I was obsessed with it and I was so excited to wear it for New Year’s Eve that year. Since then, I have made different pieces of clothing, accessories, and reworked clothing that I sell. I would like to think I am more known for making clothes and sewing compared to being a Notary Public, however, I am still new to the notary business and plan to exceed all my goals for Medrano Notary and Adrianna Medrano Official. 

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best about our city is it’s one of those cities that isn’t too popular compared to other cities such as Los Angeles. Although, It is definitely a well known city. Every time I see a celebrity or someone doing great things in life and they are from Phoenix, I am really happy for them and I get very inspired because they are from the same city as me.
I don’t have anything that I absolutely dislike about Phoenix, however, I do wish there were more to do here. Aside from cool hidden bars and fun arcades in downtown Phoenix and around the West Valley, I wish there was more to do. However, the West Valley is growing rapidly and as time goes on there are slowly more things popping up. I also found cool things to do if you search Arizona on TikTok. There’s a lot of room for growth here in Phoenix so that is something I look forward to and hope to see more things to do/visit.
