Conversations with Adriana Sansam

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Sansam.

Hi Adriana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story really begins with unimaginable loss. In 2023, I lost my husband Eric to an accidental overdose. I suddenly became a widowed mom of three, navigating deep grief while trying to hold it together for my children ages 4, 2 and 15 months. There were days I truly didn’t know how I would survive. But I kept hearing the phrase Eric used to say in recovery: “Just for today.” That became my lifeline.

What started as raw, honest posts about grief and motherhood on Instagram slowly turned into a growing community. I began sharing the parts of widowhood, parenting, and healing that most people shy away from. The messy, unfiltered, uncomfortable truths. And people responded. I realized there was a desperate need for more honest conversations around grief, addiction, and rebuilding life after loss.

That led me to create the Just for Today Podcast, where I invite guests to share their stories of pain, resilience, and growth. It’s become a space for others to feel seen and less alone whether they’re grieving, blending families, or whatever other hardship they have overcome.

Today, I’m a content creator, podcast host, and grief & addiction advocate. But more than that, I’m a mom learning how to live, love, and keep going—just for today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been the furthest thing from a smooth road. Losing my husband to addiction shattered the life I thought I’d have. Suddenly, I was parenting three grieving kids while barely holding myself together. I was navigating trauma, single motherhood, financial uncertainty(I was a stay at home mom and we had no life insurance), and the kind of loneliness that no one prepares you for. Grief doesn’t just come with sadness, it brings guilt, rage, isolation, and a hundred questions that never will get answered.

Even as I started sharing my story online, there was fear: Would people judge me? Would they understand? But I kept showing up anyway, because staying silent felt heavier.

Building a podcast, growing a platform, and turning my pain into purpose all while healing out loud has been exhausting and beautiful and deeply personal. There are still days I’m overwhelmed. But I remind myself I don’t have to have it all figured out right now.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a content creator, podcast host, and grief advocate, but at the core, I’m a storyteller. I share raw, honest glimpses into life after loss: what it means to parent through grief, love again after tragedy, and navigate the messy, beautiful process of healing.

I’m probably best known for my willingness to say the hard things out loud. I talk openly about widowhood, blended families, addiction, trauma, and mental health—topics that are often avoided but so deeply needed. Through my Instagram platform and Just for Today Podcast, I’ve built a space where people feel seen, especially those who are grieving, recovering, or just surviving something hard.

What I’m most proud of is turning my pain into purpose. I’ve received thousands of messages from people saying my posts or episodes helped them feel less alone or gave them permission to grieve in their own way. That’s everything to me.

What sets me apart is my vulnerability and transparency. I don’t sugarcoat healing. I show the behind-the-scenes of grief, the awkwardness of rebuilding, and the humanity in both breaking and blooming. I believe healing happens in community, not perfection and that’s what I try to create every day.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is going to the park just down the street from our house and playing kickball with my dad and two older brothers. It wasn’t anything crazy but it was spending quality time with some of my favorite people. Looking back, it was the simplicity and connection that made it so special.
