Conversations with Red December

Today we’d like to introduce you to Red December.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Around the end of 2016, we started casually tossing around the idea of making music together, each of us had some form of music experience, a little joke about starting a band very quickly became a reality for us. From the beginning, we all had ideas of what we wanted from our own music but to ease ourselves in we picked up a couple covers to perform at an open mic. Introducing ourselves to that community ended up being one of our best decisions, we met so many fellow local musicians who were extremely supportive and offered tons of connections, even asking us to perform with them. Slowly but surely our performances built up enough funding to record our first EP, finally giving everyone near and far, a way to listen to us when we weren’t on stage, after that first milestone we only wanted to build higher.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our biggest obstacle has scheduling time together, whether it be living hundreds or thousands of miles away from each other, work schedules colliding, or life itself getting in between us, the four of us being able to get time together has been very difficult. Regardless we still found a way, recording separately, taking time off work to perform, or finding one day we can get together for as long as we can. Of course our most recent mountain to climb has been the pandemic, taking live shows completely out of the equation, but that didn’t stop us, using that time to record and release songs we’ve been itching to share with everyone.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We’ve put out three singles and a Self-Titled EP so far, with another out EP called “Growth.June.It’sOverSoon. out April 3rd.
