Conversations with the Inspiring Tina Abnoosi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Abnoosi.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I believe the secret to a life well-lived is about conscious or subconscious choices we make to improve our quality of life and the subsequent path correction adjustments as we learn our lessons while traveling this journey.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As the oldest child of a middle-class family, I came to the United States at the age of 18, alone and in pursuit of a college education. I was young, naive, and my motivation was fueled by my father’s persistence that her daughters must be educated well so that they would not be dependent and subservient to any dominant male to take care of them. Through this cultural transition of learning to survive in the city of New York in the late ’70s, I found myself dealing with varied emotions; without any mentor, or guide, feeling confused, helpless, and fearful of failure. The expectation to succeed from the family that I had left behind was a heavy burden. I knew that quitting was just not an option as I couldn’t bear letting my family down. I soon realized that such challenges in life made me stronger and more focused to prioritize my responsibilities and set benchmark expectations. I soon discovered that problem-solving skills gave me the encouragement to tackle the responsibilities of work, college, commuting, housing, and finances. I learned that I could manage these responsibilities by finding solutions to best help myself while supporting others. With unyielding intentions on the pursuit of engineering education, I successfully completed my studies in Electrical Engineering and took away the two aspects of problem-solving skills and life-long learning as fundamental lessons to advance my professional development.

Marriage and family have been an important component of my professional growth. I got married at the age of 22 to a man with a kind heart but complicated insecurities. Just when I expected that everything was perfect, I had my first child at the age of 27 and soon learned that She had severe mental and physical life-long disabilities. This formed the next main chapter of my life, to fight for her rights as a handicapped child, and for other children like her who could not defend for themselves. I became the voice of the silent ones. My first marriage ended after 11 years and soon I decided to move with my disabled child to Arizona to build a new life for ourselves. I later met the love of my life and soon got married and we have two healthy children who are attending college. My first child passed away after a prolonged battle with the complications from cerebral palsy at the age of 20. This setback was hard and so difficult to deal with, and I felt the depression of such a devastating loss for several years thereafter.

The sense of inclusion to this group of well-intention individuals prompted me to obtain my aesthetic license. The trust they have put in me has empowered me to pursue continuous growth in both social and media presence, sales, marketing, and training. It has been a great experience and makes every day a pleasure to face.

I am grateful to those who helped me through the continuous support and those that have encouraged me to never ever give up. I have found that the true meaning of love and intention will be the best guide in finding your true way.
