Conversations with the Inspiring Reagan Wright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reagan Wright.

Reagan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was growing up and I never knew what I wanted to do for a career, so when I entered college, I knew I needed to figure it out pretty quick. I ended up majoring in Nursing but quickly realized I was not meant to be a nurse, so I made the switch to business halfway through my freshman year and that was the best decision I’ve ever made. I started taking classes that I actually enjoyed and excelled at. I quickly realized I was meant to work in some type of marketing. So, before summer break started in 2016, I randomly came across Bloguettes and saw that they were looking for summer interns! I couldn’t believe a company like this was in Phoenix, so I immediately applied and waited to hear back. I had never done an internship before and this was the first time I was putting myself out there. Luckily, I heard back and was offered the position a few days later!

After interning for the summer as their Marketing intern I was hired on part-time to help with the growing Marketing department. During my last year of college, I worked part-time and when I graduated in April of 2017, I was brought on as a full-time Marketing Assistant.

During the next 7-8 months, I evolved into a really creative person and that sparked my desire to start a blog and begin doing some freelance work on the side. So, in December of 2017, I launched my blog, On The Reag and it’s been a really incredible journey. My blog has now molded into a travel/lifestyle blog that allows me to share all about my adventures, my tips and just everything that’s going on in my life at the moment. I am able to put everything I’m passionate about into one place, which is great!

Working at Bloguettes taught me a lot and I really relied on my friend Lauren to answer all of my blog questions. I also learned a ton just by executing everything and I am still learning every day.

Over the past 2 years, I’ve held several positions at Bloguettes and now I manage all of our client projects and our Marketing and PR efforts. I’ve been with Bloguettes as we’ve transitioned into a design and consulting studio and it’s been a great learning experience.

In the future, I’d love to focus on my creative side and dedicate more time to my blog and even start my own PR agency for bloggers/influencers. For now, I am learning as much as possible and enjoying this fun time in my life!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As I said before, I did not know what I wanted to do and that was hard at first because sometimes I still don’t know what I want to do. I would say the main struggles I’ve had in the past few years have been centered around figuring out what I actually enjoy and what I’m good at. I’d be lying if I told you I feel confident in my work 24/7, but all you can do is try and continue to learn.

My advice for young women who are starting their journey is to be open to trying new things and try not to limit yourself. The more you have under your belt, the better! Especially those that are looking to go into a marketing, social media or PR career, the experience is a huge thing.

There are a ton of resources online, so learn as much as possible early on! You’ll be setting yourself up for success!

We’d love to learn more about your work. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a brand, organization or service provider? What sets you apart from others?
In my personal life, my specialties are definitely Social Media and PR. I really enjoy social media management and helping individuals and brands grow their social following and develop consistent strategies. In the past year, I’ve learned a lot about PR, especially PR for bloggers, influencers, and brands. As of right now, I just offer social media management services but I am planning to add PR to my services list as soon as possible!

I still have a lot to learn as a freelancer but I am really proud of the hard work I’ve put in so far and even though I don’t have a lot of clients, I still really enjoy what I am doing!

Since there are a ton of other freelancers out there, it is hard to stand out but I believe that my communication skills and people skills are what make me different. There are so many people out there that know more than me and have more experience but I’ve learned that the way you interact with people is super important!

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
Although I was unsure about my career path growing up, I know that the way I was raised has really helped me in the future. I was always taught to treat others with respect and basically, to just be nice to people! I would say that my time in college really helped me mold into a “professional”. Even though writing essays and putting together presentations every other week sucked, they ended up helping me in the future!
