Conversations with the Inspiring Raquel Quiros

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raquel Quiros.

Raquel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, I am a mother of two beautiful children. They are the reason why I was seeking a change in my life. I’ve worked my entire adulthood, always was the independent type. My mom raised us on her own and she was the perfect example to follow in my eyes. So, when my kids came into my life, there was no brainer on what needed to get done. I focused so much on my kids that I didn’t realize I wasn’t me anymore. There wasn’t me. There were them and their needs. In all of that, and with a lack of self-love, I was in an unhealthy relationship. And I mean unhealthy from both parts. But I can only speak to me. I wasn’t my true self in this relationship. Accommodating and manipulated to others needs before my own. I had many insecurities created from that relationship. I questioned my entire worth. It was then at rock bottom when a friend of mine told me about these women empowerment groups and a community of people that are filled with positivity and empowerment. She was a part of this and she had been inviting me for four years. Until that day, I was in the middle of losing my house, I had lost my car. All material things but the most important thing, I had lost myself. I wasn’t the mom I once was. I wasn’t the example I wanted to set for my kids. That made me say ok I’ll come to check this place out. I came to one women empowerment event and the topic that night was self-love. I knew about self-love, was my thought. But as I sat there and heard them go into the topic, tears started to flow. I didn’t truly love myself. How could I believe I know about self-love when I wasn’t taking care of ME the way I was invested in my children.

I decided to take care of my nutrition because that’s the root of things. Energy shifted as I was putting healthy food into my body, that helped me become more active and want to workout. Six months into my program, I was down 52 lbs and I felt amazing. In those six months, it wasn’t just eating right and doing workouts. I became a part of a group called Reign, that is an abs and booty class with a self-love workshop. In the workshop portion, we talk about forgiveness, soul ties, healthy boundaries, self-love journey, stepping into your purpose. Mindset shifting and sooo much more. I could talk about Reign all day. But that’s what truly changed my life. It taught me to accept me and love me just the way I am. It’s now been two years since I decided to help other women do the exact same. Achieve fitness goals but most importantly grow and bloom mentally and spiritually. My purpose is to uplift women, to show women you are worthy of more. To empower women to become more and to truly be a light, own their crown and be powerful women.

My journey is just beginning but I am so clear on what my mission is. And the beautiful thing about it all is that I have locked arms with other women who are doing the same thing. We do a self-love workshop together. We have a private Facebook group for the women who aren’t local and we meet weekly with the women who are here in Arizona. Our goal is to continue to grow and impact as many women as possible because we rise better together. All it took was one woman to empower me for me to empower another woman. That’s how it should be. Uplifting one another because we want other women to step into their power as well.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
A smooth road? Ha! No. Far from that. It seems as if when you are trying to do better and be better, things happen to try to hold you back or real you back into the negative. Because negative is natural. But positive is on purpose. When you decide that enough is enough of not truly loving you, you make decisions to change your life forever. For example, I have a routine when I wake up in the morning before I go out and the day impacts ME. I get out of bed and smile because I heard in a personal development video that smiling when you wake up forces your brain to have positive thoughts. I thank God for a new day, for the blessing that is to be awake and moving. I stretch. I turn on praise music. I read my mirror which I intentionally have full of sticky notes with I am statements/affirmations. I get all my food ready and packed for a busy day and then, I leave my house. Intentionally starting my day positively so that way when life hits I feel at least like I can handle it. Things are going to happen in life. It’s part of life, all we can do is decide to react differently, is to choose to walk away from things and people who don’t add value to your life and choose powerfully to give yourself grace when things are tough. Each person has a unique power. Nobody can be you. So, choose to be the best version of you to impact this world and truly make a difference. If I can give any advice to younger women is TAKE YOUR TIME. Get to know you, don’t settle for mediocre when you are extraordinary, KNOW you are worthy and know that God made you JUST the way you are for a reason. Be your true self at all times.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I mean as a woman I wear many hats, haha! But I am a health coach, I help woman and men to achieve any fitness goal they want for themselves. Whether it is to lose unhealthy weight, gain healthy weight, tone and maintain. I guide them through their nutrition plan. I am known for inspiring and uplifting women. The best feeling in the world and the most rewarding compensation is the private messages I get from women who feel impacted and inspired by my daily shares and my motivating posts. There’s nothing better than to see other women evolve because you inspired them to. That’s what makes me most proud of what I do. There’s so much more than just achieving a fitness goal. It’s how their smile changes, their confidence shows and who they become in the process.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I believe women have EVERY opportunity available to them. It’s a mindset thing. Nobody can hold me back from anything I want to achieve. Only I can do that. For me personal, what I get to do gives me the time freedom to be a present mother and that is very important to me. I get to help others and my kids get to see the positive impact I am making. But for the women that want the career and they want higher positions, I say GO FOR IT. The sky is the limit!!
