Conversations with the Inspiring Keyanna Salazar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keyanna Salazar.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Keyanna. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I was 16 when I really started getting into makeup. I’ve always liked it, but at 16 I fell in love with it. I love how you can boost your or someone’s confidence up, express your artistry, and just overall feel beautiful with makeup. I started posting my looks on the internet and I had so many people telling me I have talent and they’d love for me to do their make up. At age 17 I started freelancing, and I have been ever since. I love my clients. I love makeup, and I’m so blessed to be able to do what I love.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Going to school and working AND freelancing when I can is hard. Juggling your life and work is always hard, but if it’s your passion, you will try to make time for it. It’s something I’m still learning.

What should we know about your work? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a freelance make up artist. I do makeup on others and myself. I’m proud of starting a side business myself, and I will continue to keep growing.

Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
My mom, she is the most hardworking person I know. I admire her in every way. She came to America with the clothes on her back and a few dollars and had worked harder than anyone I know. She’s made so many sacrifices, she’s worked six jobs at a time, manages her own business with her sisters, and still manages to be an amazing mother and friend. I hope to be half the woman she is.
