Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Kosenkranius.
Kelsey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Yoga was something that I had little experience with, just a class every here an there throughout high school and college. About three years ago I found myself in a place where I felt very stagnant, bored, and had little motivation to set goals. It sounds cliche, but I was scrolling through Instagram and kept seeing amazing shots of people doing yoga and started to wonder how difficult it would actually be to learn to do that. I have always been pretty athletic, so I felt that with a little practice I could be that person doing a handstand in front of an incredible view. So I popped onto YouTube, found a 30-day yoga challenge, and have been going strong ever since!
Has it been a smooth road?
Every journey has bumps along the road and that is to be expected. There are waves where I am on top of my game putting together yoga challenges, making tutorials, and doing photo shoots; but there are also times where the couch and some pizza are much more appealing than the yoga mat.
Learn to have the self-discipline to get past your laziness! Even when you face obstacles that hinder you, don’t give up because you can always find a way as long as you are truly dedicated to making it happen.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
My specialty is at home and online yoga. When I first started practicing yoga seriously I was a bit overwhelmed by how much information is out there and unsure of what is legit vs BS. Posting on Instagram started out as a personal accountability thing that has since blossomed to provide motivation to others!
Though my journey, I have found that most people simply do not have the time they think they need for yoga. Providing an online avenue with shorter online classes allows anyone the flexibility to squeeze in a yoga session when it works for their schedule. I am always looking for new inspiration from my community to provide the most quality and relevant content.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
Growing up, I was deeply involved in sports. My parents rule for my brother and I was that we had to be participating in one extracurricular activity per season with the exception of summer. This prepared me to be in my best physical shape as well as teach me life skills like public speaking, leadership, honesty, teamwork, and drive to never give up which has led me to where I am today.
