Today we’d like to introduce you to Hope Galmarini.
Hope, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey into wellness and simple living started back in 2017 when I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training, under Kali Kennedy, with The Devotional School of Yoga. I was really struggling to find my purpose, and I felt very lost. I had been practicing yoga for about four years and felt a strong calling to share with others everything yoga had brought me. I had found freedom from obsessive dieting and restricting, I had found a true connection with myself, and I found that I had a voice! Even though it was scary at first, I knew this was what I was meant to do. After teaching for a year, I discovered essential oils and a whole new world of physical, spiritual, and emotional wellness had opened up. This year, I welcomed art back into my life, and now teach fiber arts, painting, and sewing! I am a yoga teacher, blogger, and art teacher! I truly feel that you can be whoever you want to be in this life, and every day, I work hard to create the life I want to live.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My greatest struggle through this journey has been owning my voice. Once I had the tools to teach and share, I was so overcome with the fear of getting up in front of people and talking! A mentor of mine told me once, “Do it scared!” and after months of teaching yoga classes, shaking with nervousness, it really started to get easier. I grew more confident, started building lasting relationships with my students, and most of all watched them grow and develop as my students! I owe all my success to my students, without them, I would never have started my blog or began teaching art classes. My advice to young women wanting to pursue a career like mine is just like what my mentor told me… do it scared! Growth often comes from conquering moments of fear, when you do it scared, you’ll be better for it… I promise!
What should we know about Simply Hopeful? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My blog “Simply Hopeful” is a lifestyle blog full of all things crafty, simple lifestyle, wellness, & SO much more! I share with my readers everything they need to know to bring wellness, simplicity, and creativity into their lives. In my yoga classes, I teach my students how to move in accordance with their own body’s needs. I specialize in accessible yoga and love to bring props into my classes. I want to see my students feel good in their own bodies and to enjoy their practice. What I am most proud of, is truly my students. I love to see them change and develop, and learn to love the skin they are in. I have found freedom through wellness and simplicity, and my greatest joy is sharing that with others.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
My mentors have inspired me so much and continue to inspire me every day. Kali Kennedy (kalikennedy.org) has absolutely helped me develop into the yoga teacher I am today. She has helped me learn how to hold space, share bravely, and inspire others. You can learn more about Kali over at http://www.kalikennedy.org/ and be sure to check out https://www.devotionalschoolofyoga.com to learn more about how you can develop your own yoga practice.
