Conversations with the Inspiring Dawn Mougel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Mougel.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a bachelor educated nurse, dedicated to continuing education and giving back to the community and the patients I serve. Currently, I am continuing my education in a Master’s of Nursing Program that will allow me to earn my degree and certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the fall of 2019.

I have had a passion for humanitarianism since I was very young, which is what ultimately lead me to my nursing career. After my first opportunity to join a medical outreach trip to Haiti as a nurse, I had the pleasure of co-founding Inspire2Heal.org, a non-profit organization designed to provide medical care and outreach abroad. My career as a nurse has allowed me many diverse experiences from advanced aesthetics to trauma intensive care, education, and humanitarianism, really lending me the opportunity to find what I loved.

What I discovered was my love and passion for wellness, nutrition, and beauty, after caring for hundreds of patients in many different environments, I realized how much wellness and feeling beautiful positively impacts people’s self-esteem, mental health, and quality of life. It is my commitment and dedication to my patient’s well-being that inspires me every day to continue my journey as a wellness center owner, educator, and advanced aesthetic injector.

Has it been a smooth road?
The journey to where I am today has certainly not been an easy road, returning to school later in life to pursue my passion for caregiving and wellness, while being a mom of young children, wife and business owner has come with many moments of challenge and stress. There were many days I remember questioning my decisions and wanting to give up, but the reward of my accomplishments in school, the ability to show my sons it is never too late to go after your dreams, and even more importantly, to be an example of a strong independent woman that can raise a family and fulfill her dreams has been worth every difficult day. My advice to other women facing similar situations is to not give up, you can and will get there, you can be a great mother, wife, and entrepreneur, you can feed your own soul and still be an impactful woman to many.

What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
I personally feel one of the barriers to female leadership in the past was a lack of support among the female community. Especially in male-driven industries, there is a need for a woman to support each other and lift each other up. However, I feel like this is changing. It’s great to see networks for female entrepreneurs and women in business growth and I’m hoping to see a larger number of female leaders in the future.
