Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Seiter.
Cindy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a wife, mother of four young children, and a business owner. Red Carpet Rentals is a full-service wedding and event rentals company which specializes in custom, hand-crafted farm tables, and unique vintage decor. The idea for our company was created by my late husband, Alan, who was the father of our children and who also suffered from a debilitating mental illness. His entrepreneurial skills and my unique vision laid the foundation for a first-rate party and event rental company. After the loss of my husband, I made the life-changing decision to continue our dream of starting up a female-led business in the wedding industry. As I found myself a few years into my career, I was fortunate to meet my husband Taylor whose craftsmanship and wood-working expertise has created our niche for beautiful farm tables and other unique hand-crafted pieces. As a way to honor my late husband and the legacy of our company, Red Carpet Rentals has committed to giving back a percentage of its proceeds to mental illness research/awareness and suicide prevention charitable organizations. We whole-heartedly believe in the power to change the outcomes and the quality of life in individuals and families of those who suffer from mental illness. This is a leading reason our company exists today.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Challenges and obstacles were no stranger to me and my late husband. His health problems posed difficulties and setbacks that made consistent progress a real issue.
Then, after his passing, the decision to continue the business as a widowed, single mother of four young children seemed utterly daunting. There would be times when the complexities of daily life coupled with grief and bereavement over the loss of my husband seemed too much to bear. Fortunately, with the love and support of kind friends and family, I was able to push through and recognize the small steps of progress that were made. One of the many blessings that were afforded to me in this process was the ability to recognize in myself a new degree of strength and resilience which would prove useful in my new life as a mother and businesswoman. Of course, it is always easy to get discouraged. It is easy to have a negative viewpoint. Good advice given to me, in the beginning, was this: you are only in competition with yourself. Since that time, I have learned to set reasonable goals for myself and for the company. I strive to maintain my original vision of creating a company that uniquely serves its customers and gives back to an important cause held near and dear to my heart.
What should we know about Red Carpet Rentals? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
When the time is afforded to me, I love to read books. A few of my recent are: ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ by Khaled Hosseini, ‘All the Light We Cannot See’ by Anthony Doerr, and books by Malcolm Gladwell.
