Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher and Fallon Liles.
Fallon and Chris are proud to be Arizona Natives. They are best friends that got married and are raising four children, all BOYS, in sunny Phoenix. They are living a life’s journey that continues to lead them towards new paths of exciting projects. Starting out with nothing more than ideas and passion to create beautiful spaces, they began creating environments that they would want to be in and homes that they would dream of living in while raising a family together.
Chris has always loved building. Starting with legos as a child (still playing with legos today…) to becoming a custom home builder as an adult and everything in between. He has been remodeling and building new homes for 15 years. He is always dreaming about what can be improved upon in a home to make it more! More fun, more inviting and more livable! When he’s not working on someone else’s dream home he is building projects around his own place regularly with Fallon and the boys.
Fallon is a dreamer. She pushes Chris’s rationality of building and runs towards designing and creating spaces that evoke emotions that are full of life, comfort and beauty. She has a passion for hosting friends and family to bring the best out of people in a pretty space of course. New projects emerge for them from her inspired daydreaming!
They are a duo. They work best by feeding off ideas from one another. Ideas that are inspired lead to tackle the process of making the vision come to life. Chris takes the lead here while Fallon keeps a close eye making sure the design is not lost during the building process. They both step out with design risks and it is for this reason combined with their passion to create one of a kind homes that has brought the attention of an HGTV magazine publication of their own home, two HGTV homebuilding episodes, local newspapers and publications as well as social media interest for their projects.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Designing and building homes do not happen without some sort of obstacles along the way. Some challenges like not being complacent with design or working with a tight budget make us adapt and conquer with new ideas to push forward. Other challenges like the last market decline and balancing life, work and family helps keep us focused and grateful to be able to create great homes for a great reason.
Working as a husband and wife duo does not always mean we meet at a coffee shop and talk over projects and agree on most ideas. Often we are challenging each others design and opinion to balance the type of home we wish to create and the budget and timing it takes to get there. The biggest difficulty here is leaving those opinions with that project and not bringing them to the dinner table later that evening 🙂
What should we know about Gather Projects? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Gather Projects specializes in dreaming up and building or renovating quality homes that are to be made memorable and lasting. We build new or renovate older homes for sale and for clients. Our passion is to create an environment that is inviting to family, friends, neighbors. We love to create spaces that take advantage of the beautiful weather Phoenix is known for in the winter months. We also love adding the special details of a home that make it unique to whats important to your lifestyle. An example of this would be an abundance of outdoor living space with a special area for raised box garden and inside maybe a child’s hideout room carved into a nook in a hallway? Each home we dream up and build is different from the last but the same quality and attention to thoughtful and creative details are what set us apart from others.
Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
I think the advice that is relevant to a young woman or man just starting a career would be to learn from your mistakes. Sometimes those can be really big but you won’t often find yourself in that place again if you’re paying attention.
Second, don’t take no for an answer. Your dream is different than someone else’s so use that passion to find ways to make things work when it seems like your just swimming upstream or hitting dead ends. Don’t give up!
