Conversations with the Inspiring Challice Ayers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Challice Ayers.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a child, I would always watch my mom apply her makeup, but for me, makeup really didn’t start until high school when I was finally allowed to wear it. The day had finally come for me to have my first MAC visit that was actually for myself and not my mom. We went into Mac and I received a color match and got some other products that I was stoked to finally try. Although, It wasn’t until I actually got my makeup done for prom from an artist at MAC and I was absolutely in love! My love and interest grew from there. I was always challenging myself and wore daring bold shades even in high school to school! Looking back now, I should’ve kept the practice for home! Lol, but I wouldn’t change anything. I loved that I was confident to try it then. From there, it grew and grew. I started with family and friends asking for makeup and the next thing you know, we are where we are today! Lots of time and practice has been put into this passion of mine!

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been easy! There are always new trends that as an artist you have to stay up to date with. It also consists of hard work, and long days. As well as investing time and money in your craft. Just remember, it’s all worth it. It’s all worth it in the end when you see someone’s face light up from how beautiful, you not only made them look but make them feel. That feeling always reminds me why I love what I do. My advice for any upcoming artist is to never give up and always be open to constructive criticism. That only makes you better!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a makeup artist located in Phoenix, AZ. I do makeup for all occasions including weddings, photo shoots, editorial, etc. to name a few. I am very proud of how I have grown as a business all on my own, and how my passion has become my career. I am also grateful for all my amazing clients that have sat in my chair and I have had the pleasure to meet. I always make sure to give great service as well as 100% each and every time. The relationship I build with them is something I never forget.

Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
My Mom is very inspirational to me, she’s always taught me to push for what I want in my life, and instilled a hard work ethic. Seeing her be such a hard worker really inspired me to be nothing less.
