Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Brandi Moore.
Dr. Moore, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was always interested in medicine, but after seeing my grandmother battle an autoimmune disease, my desire to help people was fueled. I wanted to manage my patients with more than just medications, I wanted to guide them to truly restore their health. After college, I discovered Naturopathic Medicine and knew it was the path for me. Being a Naturopathic doctor allows me to understand what is going on with my patient’s health and to treat them holistically.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Professionally, I have taken the road less traveled and it has not been easy. I graduated from college, attended a four-year medical school, and completed a residency. There have been lots of sleepless nights, accompanied by a lot of coffee. There have been tears and disappointments. But now, I am doing what I love and making a difference in peoples lives. If I could advise my younger self, I would tell her to just keep going, even when it feels like nothing is happening. All your hard work will pay off in the end.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Naturopathic Doctor who specializes in dermatology and women’s health. As a Naturopathic Doctor, I differ from your conventional doctor in a few ways. I take the time to get my patients full health history, with the initial appointment being about an hour. In addition to reviewing lab work, I also counsel my patients on nutrition, stress, sleep hygiene, etc. Because of this, I find that I consistently get positive results.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
My parents always instilled in me the importance of hard work. Without their positive influence, I don’t know if I would be where I am today.
