Conversations with the Inspiring Arianne Asunsolo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arianne Asunsolo.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Arianne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a blogger now known as @ariannestraveljournal where we specialize in unique eco-friendly & luxurious experiences.

I was born in California and have lived in over seven countries and visited 55 and counting. Went to ASU where I majored in Global studies, later moved to Nigeria and eventually to Dubai where I met my now husband Gianluca, who has a passion for travel as myself and together we set off to visit as many exceptional places as possible in an eco-friendly, respectful way.

We are now based in Arizona and just had a little girl, which we are hoping to discover more of the world with and show her our favorite spots!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When you deviate from the expected road (settling down, getting a job, etc.), people tend to react in a negative manner, even if out of love. It is important, that while hearing them out to also focus on your own journey.

As women, of course, we also need to be careful, we, unfortunately, live in a world where things happen and I always recommend that no matter how trusting someone looks, to always keep a clear head and be keep your eyes and ears open.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am happy to have volunteered in places such as Kabul, Afghanistan, Lagos Nigeria, and Chiapas Mexico. I pride myself in also always staying in eco-friendly places and have animal rights experiences. I would never swim with dolphins, take photos with drugged up tigers or buy fur. I always advise fellow travelers to do research on humane experiences when visiting a place.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
Definitely growing up in Chiapas surrounded by nature and being taught by my mom to respect our environment help define the way I travel.
