Community Highlights: Meet Yuval Yakoby of AZVA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yuval Yakoby .

Hi Yuval , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was always told that if I wanted something in life I had to go get it. Whether that was nicer clothes, a new video game system, etc. So at a young age I started small businesses like dog walking or car washes for my neighbors. When I was in high school back in 2014 I started thrifting at local goodwills and finding stuff from the 90s I thought was unique. I started by wearing some of the items and the stuff that didn’t fit me I would list on eBay. I eventually realized there was a market for vintage clothing and instantly fell in love with the uniqueness and rarity of each item I would find. This turned into a passion that I considered a job at the time. When I got to college I took a break but then my senior year decided to start back up again. I had to essentially restart but I quickly grew my following and got right back to where I left off. I recently started incorporating my own designs and continue to sell the vintage clothing along with that. Providing people with unique clothing and helping people grow an understanding of vintage is what I enjoy most about this business. Providing people with something they can wear and feel good about makes me love what I do and especially watching the business grow from nothing to what it is has been enjoyable to be apart of.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s definitely not easy to have your own clothing brand. Clothing is something that is accessible everywhere so growing a customer base for something that millions of people do is a difficult task but I have always been passionate about it and the countless hours of hard work ultimately pay off. When I’m doing the work it doesn’t even feel like work for me which has allowed me to grow the business and in my opinion the sky is the limit and AZVA is just getting started. I think my main struggle was accepting that at first people are going to doubt what you’re trying to do and accomplish but once you get over that hump people start to notice the hard work behind what you’re doing which is very rewarding.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am the owner of AZVA, we specialize in 90s vintage clothing and streetwear designs. I think the thing that sets me apart from others is my ability to adjust and be innovative within a saturated market. I am most proud of the fact that I have product that can relate to people and bring back memories from their lives or the people around them. I want people to know that our brand provides unique clothing that allows you to not only express yourself but express what interest you whether that’s a certain unique band from the 90s or a sports team that interest you.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I am always open to working with others in the fashion world especially people that are creative and have ways to bring a unique idea to life. The best way to support AZVA would be to not only purchase and item or two but also sharing our work on social media via Instagram. Clothing is all about word of mouth so we really appreciate when people spread the word about AZVA.
