Today we’d like to introduce you to Trofeo Motorworks.

Hello Trofeo Motorworks; we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We are Trofeo Motorworks, an Exotic Vehicle Repair Shop based in Scottsdale, Arizona. My name is Hector Mercado; I started wrenching on cars in high school and started my first job working for BMW in 2014. I became a BMW master technician and continued excelling through my training. Eventually, I got tired of the routine life of being a dealership technician and thought a brand change would make me feel better. I spontaneously packed my bags and relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where I would become an Audi Technician, gaining knowledge about the brand and other brands that would come through the shop. After a year or so, I realized I was still unhappy and back to where I started, needing a change. I decided to look for another shop, but this time something more small and family oriented. I found a shop in Scottsdale specializing in exotic vehicle repair and modifications called Launch Auto Sports in Need of a euro car mechanic. Already having a relationship with the owner of LAS, I made my move quickly and joined the team. Fast forward a few years, I began networking, meeting new clients, and working hard, allowing me to rent a garage that I worked out of, and Trofeo Motorworks came to life. I partnered up with another technician, Carlos Reyes, who also has over 10 years of working on JDM and Porsches, and together we made the dream work.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
Overall, we have had a few speed bumps, but nothing we haven’t been able to overcome. One of our struggles would be balancing the office and the workshop duties. Coming from a dealership world, everyone had one job and one job only. Wearing multiple hats can be challenging, but proper organization makes things run smoothly.

We’ve been impressed with Trofeo Motorworks, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
At Trofeo Motorworks, we work on your dream car. We specialize in exotic and luxury vehicles, from regular maintenance to bolt-on modifications to engine repair and diagnostics. In our city, we are mainly known for our quality of work and our trust in our clients. What sets us apart from other shops is our size; being a small group lets us focus on details and quality in our work—going the extra mile without being asked to and being honest with our clients every step. Out of everything, I feel proud hearing that our clients and friends can trust us with their vehicles and know we will care for them as if they were our family members.

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
My best advice to anyone starting is that you can’t do it alone. Be bold, ask for help when needed, and always do your best to network. You never know who might want to work with you and help you succeed.
