Community Highlights: Meet Tracy Green

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Green.

Hi Tracy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My name is Tracy Green and I am the owner of legends military store for god and country. I lived in France for 7 years, and while there I worked at Louis Vuitton on the champs d’ Elysée in Paris, when I came back, I worked at the corporate office of Rolex on 5th ave. One day on the express bus going to work I passed the central park in Manhattan, NY. I saw all the vendors set up on the sidewalk and was thinking to myself how “I bet they are making a killing selling to these tourists!” I ended up leaving Rolex and began selling on the streets of NY. While selling in Harlem a gentleman convinced me to sell at the VA hospital in Montrose, NY., and from that day I was selling at the VA hospital for military veterans for 10 years. In 2018 my husband and I began selling at the VA hospital in Phoenix, AZ. When Covid hit, we were no longer able to sell at the VA hospital due to the risk. We found a store that was vacant right by the VA and applied to set up shop there. It was perfect! Right across the street from the VA.

I wanted the store to have the Louis Vuitton style mixed with a vacation atmosphere, that’s why we added a tiki bar check out, and blue walls to remind me of the blue waters in the Caribbean. We made a hat and a bag bar with stools so people can sit and reminisce about their prior service. We also made sure that we would celebrate those who served every time an opportunity arises. We have parties for Veteran’s day, Christmas, valentine’s day, and Memorial Day. My husband BBQs and vets always eat for free. We usually have live music, raffles, vendors, and plenty of goody bags and thank-you cards. We also provide information here for benefits, lawyers, shelter, and other resources that veterans might need. We also provide for homeless veterans whether it be clothing or information for caseworkers.

This store is a place of camaraderie and healing.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I always say there are never problems only solutions. Our main challenge has been getting people to know about this little Gem in Phoenix, but word of mouth has been our best friend.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Here we do a lot of custom work we do custom hats, pins, patches, sneakers, mugs, flags dog tags, and much more!

We realize that Veterans love representing their time in service by displaying their unit, brigades, battalions, etc. so we made it possible for them to get specific units, etc. put on hats, t-shirts, and dog tags. whatever they want to personalize we can do it here for them.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and are any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
We Learned God is in Control and we need not fear! We were able to open a store in the middle of a Pandemic and he supplied all of our needs financially to open this wonderful store. That’s why we have prayer meetings every Tuesday when the store closes at 6 pm to give thanks and to pray for anyone who decides to join us. We have seen many miracles here.

We had people asking for healing and we’ve seen them walk out healed. We had someone on their death bed and we kept him in prayer and he came to visit us in the store to testify how he was healed in Jesus’ name!
