Community Highlights: Meet Taliesin Wallis of UndergroundPC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taliesin Wallis.

Hi Taliesin , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
UndergroundPC didn’t start with a business plan; it started with a desk and a laptop. Long before it was a formal shop, I was the guy that friends called for help at 12 am. I spent my nights fixing random technology, lying around, learning how to code just to save money on a website.
The name “Underground” is a reminder to the roots. I realized there was a massive gap in the Valley for a shop that treated PC building as an art form rather than an assembly line. Out here, cooling isn’t just a preference, it’s a necessity. You can’t just throw parts in a box and call it a day when it’s 115 degrees outside.
The road hasn’t been easy. We launched right into the teeth of global supply chain collapses and GPU shortages, along with little money to get our name out in the world. There were plenty of 3:00 AM nights spent learning how to market, using Photoshop, and scouting the Internet for parts. Building a business from scratch has taught me that my business is built on trust, not just hardware. You don’t have a business if your clients don’t trust you.
I’m not interested in corporate fluff or the marked-up, mediocre builds you find at retail chains. Our philosophy is performance-first: meticulous cable management for maximum airflow and precision tuning to ensure every component hits its peak. We’re just local builders who live for this tech, making sure the Phoenix community gets the dream setups they deserve, without the retail headache.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I built UndergroundPC while navigating global GPU shortages, limited funding, and supply chain disruptions, all while competing with large retail brands. I had to teach myself marketing, design, and sourcing parts, and design systems that stay cool and reliable in Phoenix’s extreme heat. Overcoming these challenges helped me build a trusted, performance-focused local business from the ground up.

As you know, we’re big fans of UndergroundPC . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I run UndergroundPC, a custom PC building and repair business based in Phoenix. I specialize in performance-focused, thermally optimized systems built for extreme heat and real-world use. I’m known for attention to detail, honest recommendations, and treating PC building as a craft rather than assembly. What I’m most proud of is building a trusted local business from the ground up during supply shortages, without relying on retail shortcuts or upselling.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
In five to ten years, I see UndergroundPC as a well-established local brand known for high-quality, performance-driven custom systems and trusted service. The goal is to grow sustainably, expand our reach within the Phoenix area, and continue refining our craft without losing the hands-on, customer-first approach that sets us apart.
