Hi Savana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my career with just 96 cents to my name and a determination to change my life. I worked long hours, took every client I could, and poured my heart into my craft. Along the way, I fell in love with my boss, who shared my passion for the beauty industry. After decades behind the chair, he stepped away and entrusted me to run the salon. Today, I lead Awsum Salon with the same grit, heart, and hustle that got me here, creating a space where confidence is built, friendships are formed, and people leave feeling their very best. My journey is proof that no matter where you start, hard work and heart can create something truly beautiful.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. Between COVID shutting us down, being pregnant three years in a row, and the economy taking a toll on the beauty industry, there were plenty of challenges. But giving up was never an option. I chose to trust God through it all, believing that this path was exactly where I was meant to be. That same faith and determination that carried me from having just 96 cents to my name to running Awsum Salon is what continues to drive me today — turning obstacles into opportunities and struggles into strength.

Awsum Salon is an upscale, family-owned salon in Gilbert, AZ, known for blending luxury services with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We specialize in trending cuts, vibrant color transformations, and luxury hair extensions, but what truly sets us apart is the experience we create. Every guest is treated like family, every service is customized, and every detail is done with intention. Our team is passionate about ongoing education, staying ahead of trends, and delivering results that make our clients feel confident and cared for. We’re most proud of building a brand that’s rooted in community, a place where people come not just for beautiful hair but for connection, encouragement, and a moment to feel their very best. Whether you’re coming in for a bold transformation or a routine refresh, our goal is simple: you’ll leave feeling awsum inside and out.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
For anyone just starting out, my biggest advice is to be willing to outwork everyone and stay teachable. Take the time to learn from those around you, ask questions, and soak up every bit of knowledge you can. There will be hard days, but don’t let them shake your vision. Consistency is what builds success. I wish I had known that it’s okay not to have it all figured out right away. Trust the process, lean into your faith, and remember that every small step forward matters.
