Community Highlights: Meet Sarah McMillion of Divine Order Home

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah McMillion.

Hi Sarah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a “thing” for being very organized. Over the years, I’ve helped friends and family organize or pick out pretty things for their homes and I’ve always been told that I should do something with these talents. But it wasn’t until a trip back to my home state- Missouri, during a time when I was really struggling to find my purpose, that it all aligned and made sense.

During my trip, I was visiting a friend, and when I stepped into her home, I could tell that she was being weighed down by her space. She and I had a long talk about what was going on because it felt like her external environment was a reflection of what was going on internally. I asked her if she would be open to me helping her get the house into a place where she could feel at peace and she agreed so we got to work! We spent the next two days cleaning, decluttering, archiving, reorganizing, and redesigning to give her back her home. We were already best friends, but I felt like those two days we got so much closer. We turned her home upside down and her kids when they got home were like “WE HAVE A NEW HOUSE!” I could see the transformation happening in her mindset starting to take shape after we cleared the clutter and created an intentional, mindful space for her and her family to enjoy. Fast forward one year, she’s received several promotions, 3 raises in pay and her relationship with herself has improved dramatically.

I’d found the purpose that I was in search of. I couldn’t shake the feeling of “I need to do this for others. I want to spread this joy like wildfire. I have to do this.”.

On my last day in Missouri, walking around the creek beds on my dad’s property, I stumbled across a book that someone had burned in a fire. There were pages all around but I just happened to look down and find a burnt page of the book. Someone very important to me once gave this quote, “the universe speaks in feathers, bricks, and trucks” and the words on this page hit me like a ton of bricks.

It read… “You already have the answer. … Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. Writing down your original vision is the key to fulfilling it. We shouldn’t just write it down, we should give it away so others will be inspired as well…Our purpose, direction, and plan is already there.”

It couldn’t have been more clear on what I needed to do. I flew back to LA, opened my LLC, and started Divine Order Home. Within days, my first client had already found me. DAYS. It was as if the universe was saying, yep- this is a good plan, you can do this. I can’t help but wonder, if I didn’t go through the breakdown, would I have come to this breakthrough? Sometimes, you have to go through it to GROW through it.

From there, I’ve grown and the business has grown into now two different states and we have served dozens of families and individuals. My hope is to bring Divine Order Home to individuals and families that want more out of their spaces so they can also find their purpose and live the life aligned with their purpose.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Surprisingly, it has been a pretty smooth road. Do not get me wrong, there have been struggles but it’s a business- it would be weird if there weren’t issues that came up along the way. I am a firm believer that if you are on the path you were meant to be on, it will flow freely to you and make the road less bumpy. I will say, it has been interesting growing into a new market. Scottsdale, AZ is very different from Los Angeles! I have been lucky to start building my book of clients out here in the few short months we’ve lived out in the area and will continue to do so as time goes on!

As you know, we’re big fans of Divine Order Home. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Divine Order Home is a professional home organizing & interior design company. We are a company designed to align inner peace with your environment. We take a very holistic approach to organizing or designing a space. We aren’t just “making something pretty” or “cleaning out your pantry” we want to show our clients that whatever mess they think they are in, there is always a road and methodical way out of it. We not only show them how to pave the way, but how to maintain their environment that can supplement their lifestyle. If you’re constantly stressed over your cluttered bedroom, that can affect your sleep, your mood, your relationships, how often you have people over, etc. Our business is bigger than just organizing or designing, it’s helping people find their way through the clutter to find clarity.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising- I would have to say that I’m not a complete Type-A organized lunatic like I may seem sometimes to clients haha. I make messes, I have a junk drawer, but I would say overall, I am pretty organized and love a good rest day and not cleaning/picking up all the time.
