Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Schreiner.

Sara Schreiner

Hi Sara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since 2004, I’ve been more than just a childcare provider in Montana; I’ve been a passionate advocate for shaping young minds. What began as an after-school job quickly blossomed into a lifelong mission. It was no longer about merely providing care; it was about ensuring that every child could access an amazing childhood filled with experiences that would shape them forever.

But as the years passed, my vision expanded. I realized that my passion wasn’t confined to the children in my care; it was about empowering women to build businesses that would allow them to continue this essential mission. By guiding them to create their own childcare centers, they could strike a balance in their lives, offering exceptional childhood experiences while also providing high-quality work opportunities.

The turning point came in 2022 when the State of Montana introduced an innovation and expansion grant. The goal? Think outside the box, foster creativity, and inspire growth.

I pondered and searched, seeking the spark that would ignite my truly “innovative idea.” And then, like a scene from a movie, it happened over breakfast at my grandfather’s table.

I was attending a baby shower for my cousin and his wife, and as we chatted over pancakes and eggs, my cousin shared his struggles in finding childcare. Many programs excelled in child nurturing but stumbled on the business side of things. It was then that it hit me, like a melody from above, a perfect harmony of my experiences and insights.

Why not use my program as a “case study” for others? I could guide those wanting to start or elevate their own programs, sharing my wisdom, my successes, and even my failures. It would be a roadmap to success, hand in hand with someone who had already walked the path.

Thus, ChildMYnder was born.

It’s more than just a program; it’s a movement. A way to blend passion with profession, to build bridges where there were once barriers, and to inspire others to follow their dreams, just as I did.

Come join us in this journey, because every child deserves the very best, and together, we can make that happen.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Far from a smooth road, the path to ChildMYnder has been winding, steep, and fraught with unexpected twists and turns. The journey has been anything but easy, and the challenges have been both demanding and enlightening.

At one point, a local vendor held our domain hostage after we chose a different direction for our branding. The Montana legislature threw a curveball our way, changing the licensing requirements for in-home childcare programs without warning. Juggling these unexpected obstacles while managing our existing childcare business added yet another layer of complexity to the adventure.

But rather than stumbling blocks, these challenges became stepping stones. Each one was an opportunity in disguise, a chance to pivot, adapt, and grow. They pushed us to think differently, to innovate, and to find solutions where others might see only problems.

In the end, these struggles have not hindered ChildMYnder; they have elevated it. Every challenge has led to new insights, new directions, and new heights. And as we continue on this exciting journey, we know that whatever hurdles we face, they are merely opportunities to grow, to excel, and to make a difference in the lives of children and families everywhere.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about ChildMYnder?
