Today we’d like to introduce you to Rue Vincent.
Hi Rue, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Label By Three was started by my two sisters, Jael Toczko, Tish Rezek and I, because we wanted to fill a void in the fashion industry where quality, transparency, creativity & inclusivity are severely lacking. As three women of color, we want to write the narrative of what an ethical brand truly is and how meaningful our practices as a small business can be to our community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth! Sometimes it feels like there is no road! Haha. We’re always learning as we grow, which we think means that we’re on the right path. Just this past year, we’ve grown rapidly, which has been both a struggle and a blessing. A blessing because we’re doing our dream job, a struggle because it costs money to grow (and to make more money). Label By Three is completely self-funded and as we continue to grow over this next year, we’re looking for ways to have a more stable and reliable revenue stream. That’s been the biggest hurdle for us.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Label By Three?
We are a black-women, family-owned and run slow fashion company and we have been since day one. Label By Three garments is designed & handmade here in Arizona with a focus on minimalism, sustainability, and versatility. All of our materials are hand-picked and sourced by us, in-person. We solely use quality deadstock fabrics from independent sellers located in the USA. All fabrics are limited in quantity, making each run unique, as we may never have exactly the same designs again. Our packaging is made from 100% post-consumer and post-industrial content. It’s fully recyclable, biodegradable and made in the USA.
Every piece is thoughtfully designed to be versatile enough for different body types and personal styles, emphasizing a minimal aesthetic to be paired with items you already own. Our goal is not just to make clothes that will be loved, but to make clothes that will last, so they can be loved for longer.
