Community Highlights: Meet Robert A. Lane of Robert Lane Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert A. Lane.

Hi Robert, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I believe my coaching journey really started back when I began working in the entertainment industry many years ago. I started my career as an audio engineer at a radio station and from there my career took me to other facets of the industry including cable television, audio post-production, and even on-camera work. I eventually worked on the corporate side as a scheduling manager for a big post-production facility and then spent the rest of my career at 20th Century Fox as a project manager.

When I left the entertainment industry, I decided that it was time to give back in a way where I would be able to help people deal with the day-to-day pressures of their job and teach them how to love and appreciate their careers, and show them how to regain their personal freedom. The pressures I experienced in the industry relate to any career across the board and I wanted to help as many people as possible. This was the fuel that sparked my coaching business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I invested in certifications as a health & wellness coach, went through various coaching programs, and created a coaching mastermind group with other incredible coaches as a support system for each other. The next step was to create a coaching program that guaranteed results and provided permanent solutions.

There was a time of trial and error but after a few months of dialing in what worked the best, I created my own coaching program called The Mindset Method. I now had a system that worked.

As you know, we’re big fans of Robert Lane Coaching. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Robert Lane Coaching, I help busy career professionals eliminate stress, overwhelm and burnout so they can love their job again, position themselves for promotions, and most importantly, live a healthier balanced life as well as regain personal freedom.

In The Mindset Method coaching program, I divide it into three basic pillars – Mindset Mastery, Practical & Tactical, and The New You. Mindset Mastery focuses on removing any mental barriers stopping you from reaching your goals. Practical & Tactical is where I give you various tools to fill your “toolbox” with valuable techniques like time management skills, setting boundaries, stress management exercises, communication skills, confidence-building tools, plus much more. The New You is where I teach you how to purge old bad habits and replace them with new good habits using all the tools from the other two pillars so that by the end of the program you have created a new permanent lifestyle change.

I work with people from all over the country so most of my clients are online though I do teach in person locally. In addition to coaching, I am also a motivational speaker and do speaking engagements and presentations for small and large businesses, corporations, and special groups and clubs all over the United States.

I recently published a new book called “Lights, Action, YOU!” where I share some great stories from my thirty-plus years in the entertainment industry and tie each story with the lessons and tools I teach in my coaching program.

The book is available worldwide on Amazon. It’s an enjoyable and very valuable read!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’m all for taking risks… calculated risks. I see risk-taking as doing something that takes you out of your comfort zone. When you do something that is uncomfortable, you are actually in growth mode. Depending on what your goal is, stepping out of your comfort zone pushes you forward.

Taking risks can be scary but the key is to not let that fear become a barrier or an excuse stopping you from reaching your goals. Working through your fears and breaking down barriers builds self-esteem and confidence. When you complete a task or goal, the feeling of accomplishment and empowerment validates the worthiness of the risk.

For me, changing careers after working in the entertainment industry for so long was a risk. But I have to say that being a coach was well worth this risk because this is the most fulfilling and gratifying job I have ever had.
