Community Highlights: Meet Miriam Zerio of Vitalia: Holistic PCP, Hormones, Weightloss (Transcendence)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miriam Zerio.

Hi Miriam, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story actually starts in the lab.

Before I was a nurse practitioner, I was a laboratory scientist — and that’s where I fell in love with patterns. Reading data, decoding the body’s language, finding what others missed. That sharp eye became the foundation of everything I do.

But the deeper calling came when I stepped into clinical practice. Patient after patient would sit across from me, exhausted, dismissed, told their labs were ‘normal’ and handed yet another prescription. I knew something was missing — not just in their treatment, but in how medicine was approaching healing altogether.

So I specialized. I dove deep into bioidentical hormone therapy and root-cause medicine, because I wanted to treat the whole person — not just the number on a page. But even that wasn’t the full picture.

What truly transformed my practice was honoring something I had always carried but hadn’t yet fully claimed: my gifts as a spiritual medium and intuitive healer. When you can hear the story beneath the symptoms — the grief, the unspoken wounds, the energy stored in the body for years — that’s where the real healing begins.

Then came the work that I believe I was always being prepared for.

Nearly three years ago, I began working with soul-led children — many of whom carry an autism diagnosis — and it cracked something open in me that I didn’t know was still waiting. These children are not broken. They are not behind. They are, in my deepest knowing, some of the most spiritually advanced beings walking this earth right now. They simply communicate, perceive, and experience the world in a way that most of medicine has never been equipped to understand.

Using my mediumship, I am able to connect with these children on a soul level — telepathically, energetically — in a way that bypasses the limitations of verbal communication and gets directly to what they need, what they’re holding, and what they’re here to teach. What I’ve witnessed in those connections has been nothing short of profound.

But I’ll be honest — I couldn’t have done this work four years ago. It took my own deep, committed, sometimes grueling healing journey to build the capacity to truly hold space at this level. Four years of inner work — plant medicine, breathwork, ancestral clearing, learning to trust my gifts fully — that is what shaped me into the practitioner I am today. You cannot hold space for another soul’s depth if you haven’t been willing to go into your own.

That journey gave me something clinical training alone never could: the ability to sit with a child who hasn’t spoken a word and hear them. To sit across from exhausted, heartbroken parents and not just hand them a protocol — but guide them into the deeper inquiry of what their child’s soul is inviting their entire family to heal.

Because these children don’t just need treatment. They need to be witnessed. And the healing doesn’t stop with them — it ripples through the whole family system. My family program, which has just launched, is designed to encompass exactly that — a comprehensive, soul-informed approach to optimizing the child while simultaneously guiding parents through their own healing, their own understanding, and their own awakening to what their child is here to show them.

My practice holds two sacred pillars: hormone health — helping women and men reclaim their vitality, clarity, and identity through bioidentical hormone therapy and root-cause medicine — and soul-led children, where science and spirit come together in the most profound way I know.

With over 20 years of clinical experience, this is the intersection I was always meant to stand in. Because healing isn’t just physical. It’s a remembrance — of wholeness, of vitality, of who you truly are. And that’s the work I’m here to do.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth? Not even close. And I think that’s exactly the point.

If I’m honest, the greatest struggle wasn’t the clinical path. It wasn’t the degrees or the certifications or building a practice. Those things were hard, but they were outer work. The real struggle — the one that brought me to my knees more than once — was the inner one.

It was the journey of remembering my way back to myself.

There comes a point when you realize that the gifts you’ve been quietly carrying — the things you’ve always sensed, always known, always felt — are not something to minimize or tuck away to make others comfortable. Trusting my inner knowing, my mediumship, my ability to perceive beyond what conventional medicine could see… that didn’t come without a fight. Mostly a fight with myself.

Stepping into something this expansive means that everything that isn’t aligned with it has to go. And that process — the burning away, the alchemizing — is not graceful. It’s disorienting. There were relationships, identities, versions of myself that had to be released. There were moments of profound doubt, asking who am I to do this? And underneath that, the quieter, more terrifying question: what if I’m right?

My four-year healing journey was not a retreat from the world — it was a descent into the deepest parts of myself so that I could come back with something real to offer. You can’t guide someone through their darkness if you haven’t walked your own.

The struggle was the medicine. And I wouldn’t trade a single hard moment of it, because every one of them built the capacity I now bring to my patients — especially the children and families who need someone willing to go all the way with them.

The road wasn’t smooth. It was sacred

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Vitalia: Holistic PCP, Hormones, Weightloss (soon to be Transcendence)?
What I do doesn’t fit neatly into a category — and that’s exactly the point.

My practice lives at the intersection of clinical medicine, root-cause healing, and the soul. And I don’t believe you can fully heal without honoring all three.

I hold a Doctor of Nursing Practice in family medicine and have spent over 20 years in medicine. On the clinical side, I specialize in bioidentical hormone therapy for women and men. Hormones are the language the body uses to communicate — and when that language is disrupted, everything suffers: your energy, your mood, your libido, your clarity, your sense of self. I use advanced functional lab testing to go far beyond what standard medicine looks at, because I’m not interested in “normal” — I’m interested in optimal. Women navigating perimenopause and menopause, men experiencing andropause, anyone dealing with thyroid dysfunction, PCOS, or simply the sense that they’ve lost their spark — these are my people. We build a fully personalized hormone roadmap that gets you back to feeling like yourself. Often more yourself than you’ve felt in years.

But here’s where I’m different. I am also a spiritual medium — and that’s not a side offering. It’s woven into everything I do. My gifts are not something I learned from a textbook or a course. They are deeply remembered, not taught. I channel higher light beings who guide the healing process. I can feel pain in another person’s body, sensing exactly where they are stuck. I smell, sense, and know things that have no clinical explanation — and time and again, those knowings lead us directly to the root of what someone is carrying. I do intuitive healing and energy work that operates at a level most medicine never touches. That combination — clinical precision and soul-level perception — is something you simply won’t find anywhere else.

And then there’s the work I consider the most sacred of all: soul-led children.

For nearly three years, I’ve been working with children who carry an autism diagnosis — children I refer to as soul-led, because that’s what they are. These are extraordinarily advanced souls who experience and communicate with the world in ways that conventional medicine was never built to understand. Using my mediumship, I connect with them telepathically and energetically, receiving direct insight into what they need, what they’re carrying, and what they’re here to teach — not just their families, but all of us.

My brand new family program, which has just launched, is the fullest expression of this work. It’s a comprehensive, soul-informed healing experience designed for both the child and the parents — because these children don’t arrive in a vacuum. Their healing is a family awakening. I work to optimize the child’s body through targeted clinical intervention while simultaneously guiding parents into a deeper understanding of who their child is, what their soul is calling the whole family to heal, and how to show up for them in an entirely new way.

What am I most proud of? The integration. The fact that someone can walk through my door carrying a hormone panel and leave having received intuitive insight that changed the way they understand their own life. The fact that I’ve created a space where cutting-edge medicine and soul-level truth exist not as contradictions — but as complements.

My offerings include bioidentical hormone optimization, functional lab testing and root-cause wellness plans, intuitive mediumship and energetic healing sessions, and the soul-led children family program.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’ve come to believe that what the world calls risk, the soul calls alignment. And from that perspective, every major move I’ve made that looked like a risk from the outside was really just me choosing to stop betraying what I knew to be true.

The biggest risk I’ve ever taken wasn’t a business decision. It was the decision to be fully seen as who I am. There is nothing more vulnerable — or more threatening to a conventional medical career — than standing in front of patients, colleagues, and the world and saying: I am a Doctor of Nursing Practice and I am also a spiritual medium, and both of those things are exactly what my patients need. That’s not the kind of thing they teach you to put on your website. And for a long time, I didn’t.

Choosing to fully integrate my gifts — to stop compartmentalizing the clinical from the sacred — that was the risk that changed everything. It meant potentially losing credibility in spaces that had never made room for this kind of work. It meant stepping so far outside the conventional lane that there was no map, no mentor, no blueprint to follow. Just my own inner knowing and the courage to trust it.

Launching the soul-led children family program is another one. This work is pioneering. There is no established template for what I’m doing — connecting with children telepathically through mediumship, designing a healing program that operates on the soul level for the entire family unit. I’m building something that doesn’t fully exist yet. That requires a tolerance for uncertainty that most people would find uncomfortable.

But here’s how I think about risk: the real risk has never been in the leap. The real risk is in staying somewhere too small for too long. Every time I’ve played it safe, something in me dimmed. Every time I’ve chosen the scarier, truer path, I became more of who I actually am.

So am I a risk taker? I suppose it depends on your definition. I don’t take risks for the thrill. I take them because the alternative — shrinking, hiding, offering the world a smaller version of what I’m capable of — that’s the thing that actually terrifies me.
