Hi Mary, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve seen how skin concerns like facial hair, acne, or even an old tattoo can weigh someone down for years. For many of my clients, laser treatments aren’t just about aesthetics, they’re about finally feeling free in their own skin. That kind of transformation? It’s powerful.

That’s what inspired me to open ONYX Laser Skin Therapy. A brand new, nurse-owned laser spa where I do it all. Yep, just me! I’m the technician, the scheduler, the cleaner, and the hype woman. Every client gets my full attention, and every treatment is tailored with care. Whether it’s removing unwanted hair, clearing up stubborn acne, or helping someone say goodbye to a tattoo they’ve outgrown, I’m here for the glow-up and the fresh starts.

Starting from scratch hasn’t been easy, but it’s been real—and deeply rewarding. ONYX is more than a laser spa—it’s a space where confidence gets rebuilt, one zap at a time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We moved to Arizona from Wisconsin just two years ago for my husband’s job, and starting a business in a brand-new town where I didn’t know anyone was a huge leap of faith. I went from having roots and a community to starting completely from scratch—we have 5 kids and my first grandchild was just born (it’s a girl!) Juggling family life while launching a business solo has been intense, but I know it will be worth it!

ONYX Laser Skin Therapy is nurse & Certified Laser Technician owned and operated laser spa that offers advanced treatments with a personal touch. I specialize in laser hair removal, tattoo removal (with pain management options), acne treatments, scar treatments, carbon peels, and skin rejuvenation. But more than just providing services, I help people feel good in their skin again. Whether it’s someone struggling with facial hair, acne scars, or an unwanted tattoo, I meet every client where they’re at, without judgment, and with real solutions.

What sets ONYX apart is the experience. It’s not a big chain with a rotating staff. I’m the one doing your consultation, your treatment, and your follow-up. Clients know they’re getting individualized care from someone who’s medically trained and genuinely invested in their results. I’m not here to upsell, I’m here to listen, treat, and support real skin transformations.

I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built with my clients. They refer their friends, leave heartfelt reviews, and come back because they feel safe, seen, and cared for. ONYX isn’t just a brand, it’s a labor of love built on connection, confidence, and a little laser magic.

Any big plans?
Right now, I’m proudly running ONYX Laser Skin Therapy as a one-woman show out of a rented room in a med spa, but this is just the beginning. My dream is to eventually open a larger, standalone laser spa where I can expand my services, bring on a small team, and create a space that feels both elevated and welcoming.

I envision ONYX growing into a destination for results driven skin treatments, where clients feel seen, safe, and supported from the moment they walk in. I’d love to add more advanced equipment, additional treatment options, and even offer mentorship to other nurses or estheticians getting started in the aesthetic world.

I’m looking forward to building not just a business, but a community, we’re getting there and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.
